It's long overdue. The courts need to put Trump in his place.

Not a Mainer, but thank you Gov Mills for standing up.

I just find it astounding that we have a Sec of HHS up there basically spouting eugenics and saying that some people have worth and others don't

I lived in NYC when Cuomo first ran for Gov....and to this day, it amazes me how Cuomo keeps sticking around even though you never hear anyone saying they love Cuomo.

Make him AND Cuomo go away.

Yeah, but we need to get Cory to put down the Big Pharma $$ crack pipe.
comment in response to post
Yes, I am proud that he stood up and said something. But I hope that he and other democrats like him will put down the crackpipe of corporate money and TRULY represent the people.

I respect what you have done. Thank you. Now, please stand up to big pharma in the same way.

Now if we could just get Cory to quit the big pharma $$. I like him, but he's too in bed with big pharma/big healthcare.

Said the quiet part out loud. But either way, how about you start with the racket that is Medicare Advantage?

Why is this allowed to continue?? I mean literally this guy has no real authority, no Senate confirmation, and literally bought his way into power....and we just give him access to top secret info??

Sadly, think it was proof that ANY society will place its economic interests over institutions when forced to pick. People only care about a particular form of govt if it’s getting them what they want/need.

Right and this is why people are upset with Dem leadership. Yes, we understand you “don’t have the votes”. But this president is breaking norms and using unorthodox tactics and it’s time for us to respond in kind. We’re tired of sternly worded letters or statements of disappointment.

Threaten me with. Good time

I'm so tired of people worrying about the "consequences" of Democrats shutting down the govt. Republicans have done it multiple times...and has it ever actually harmed them in the long run? No THEY control both chambers...if they need our votes to pass something we have to make them WORK for it

I understand Schumer's reasoning, so I don't think he's stupid. But I think we're seeing Trump and his people use unorthodox methods for accomplishing their agenda...and Democrats want OUR leaders to respond in kind, not to simply use the normal approach.

This is the reason I don't have one in the first place. I never trusted those things to not listen to everything I say.

Except the guy was 100% right.

A thoughtful article. I think political plays have become more entertaining recently and have ventured into a greater variety of forms. That said, it still seems like most of it is preaching to the choir. Musicals seem to be the only form that attracts a more politically diverse audience.

She's term-limited and has zero f's left to give...amazing how it frees people to say what they think.

😆. While I certainly wouldn't advocate violence against him, I can't say I'd be sad if fate or other natural causes intervened...

/2- Often those students tell me that they enjoyed the show but their parents discouraged them from doing theatre OR they found that most of their regular friends weren't doing it and so they left to be with their friends. AND if we're honest, most material is written by/for middle class white ppl

/1- I imagine there's a similar dynamic here. Even as a high school teacher, as much as I work to build an inclusive theatre program, the ones who stick with it are almost always middle class (or above) kids. I've had kids from lower SES backgrounds do a show or two, but they often don't stay.

There’s always the option to have a private account if you don’t want to hear from strangers.

More focus on results. We need to do more to publicize the "wins" of blue areas..and to show that we can reduce crime/homelessness, reduce cost of living while preserving our blue areas as desirable places to live And frankly, we also need to be as effective at calling out the failures of red areas

Are there any conservative voices on Bluesky that are interested in a conversation? Who?
comment in response to post
Sounds about right. They argue with you, say you're wrong...so you present them with facts/evidence and they follow that with "I don't believe that". So you respond with "What source DO you believe" "Fuck you"

I lived in Lousiana for a while and can venture a guess: Lousiana has terrible air/water pollution due to its lax approach to (and total dependency on) the oil/gas industry. Many of the communities that live near/around those facilities are communities of color. Pollution does not affect all equally
