Movements succeed when they have mass participation—the safer it feels for people to participate, the more likely it is the movement will succeed. Protests are helpful because they show safety in numbers. If the protests aren’t safe, people won’t show up or do other actions (like strike).

The biggest problem with people who vote conservative as a default is that they’ve convinced themselves that conservative is aligned with being responsible, mature, and not wasteful, and have fallen in love with the idea of being identified as such. They see “liberal,” as being reckless, wasteful.
