He did not coin that phrase; it's been a thing in rocketry for a long time. (along with unplanned disassembly, rapid unplanned disassembly, spontaneous rapid disassembly event, and so forth)

Yes, ML-based detection has bias baked into the models! USER REPORTING ALONE HAS A MILLION TIMES MORE BIAS. Possibly a billion times more bias. If you want more "objective" moderation, by which you mean less "but HE got away with it", you want way, way more ML involved in the process.

Shouldn't we not bear the burden on Boeing's errors? Cost-plus would reward them for the overruns.

I haven't seen - my version of the post would be companies that get VC funding because the funders would like to (vs what is actually most likely to be successful). I think that's part of the Theranos story.

That position (and the organization it leads) was not set in law and as such is absolutely up to the current executive to name or modify as they see fit.

Yep; you have to get some sort of waiver or something. IPAs allow non-profits to "give" services to gov, but I think there are other authorities.

Past White Houses have "hired" volunteers and given them official roles; I imagine something like that will be used here.

He's worked with our community as well! Such a important story, and I'm thankful for Bertrand.

The buildings live, in a way, in our lives, in the work we do. It’s precisely because they are ephemeral that we care for them. It’s through this impermanence—and the relationships of dependence that it implies—that they persist. Things only live on in their caretakers.

14/15, wasn't sure about Kabbalah. Many of these seem like odd questions....Ramadan/Mecca/Trinity are much more important to know than Purgatory or where Jesus lived.

As someone helping to run a training program for early career PMs/Devs/etc, really appreciate this thread and the hard won knowledge behind it. Thank you! On the PM side, I think the asking for help indicator also applies, along with good self knowledge so people don't get in over the head.

In addition, it's been interesting to see developers "cap out" and not be able to progress past a certain level of development task. The most common ways we have seen developers "cap out" are: (a) some developers are complexification machines (b) some developers can't visualize algorithms 4/

I hear this and agree in principle, but I'm not sure that livestreaming has improved Congress and I don't know if it would improve SCOTUS given the type of interest. Justices should be able to communicate with counsel via their body language, without fear that video stills might go viral.

The semester after ED acceptance will hopefully be much less stressful than for all his peers.
