took exactly 3 days for this excellent idea of "advent calendar with a new tea for every day" to become "fuck you i'm not drinking bloody turmeric chai"

Day 1 of mine was lemon and ginger. That shit still makes me feel nauseous after I drank bucketloads of it to try and ward off morning sickness. Fourteen years on I still can't face the stuff.
OMG SAME, I ate so much stupidass candied ginger during morning sickness thinking it would help, and as far as I can tell all it did was make me associate the taste of ginger with throwing up
I imagine it would with all that sugar. The proper way to calm a stomach is five or six six thin slices of fresh ginger per cup made into a tea. My youngest used to get car sick by the time we got to the end of the block. Used this tea and it stopped.
I saw a few of those advertised to me but on inspection all the tea flavors were disgusting, and mostly varieties of "English breakfast with some flowers in it."
I have always assumed it's because they didn't sell, so they get rid of them by chucking them into something they can call a fun assortment instead of buying in extra inventory.
ngl i actually like haldi doodh a lot, they forced me to drink it after i gor penumonia when I was 7 and I have been hooked since but I WILL NOT have it in chai enough is enough
I use turmeric as natural anti inflammatory & mix turmeric honey in my tea when my immune system is struggling. I quite enjoy it but turmeric chai feels like overkill. Especially if made with ginger. 🤷🏽♀️
So someone, somewhere is really pushing that pear one if it's still in the selection.

I'm not at all happy at the notion of a jam having a "candle vibe". Eep!
Nah, we buy our kid a Barbie or Lego calendar every year. A good way to sate her appetite for accessories/unusual pieces. She still gets to eat chocolate normally since we're not raising her religiously, so there's no fasting to sidestep.
Advent has no fasting or abstaining from a favorite food, drink, or activity. You’re thinking about Lent, where you fast & abstain from meat on Fridays. Used to be Wednesdays & Fridays. You also give up something for Lent. Advent is a joyful time of year. You’re getting ready for a baby to come.
Might be a catholic or simply local tradition then, because here in Poland i was taught that Advent was also a time of fasting. Priests even wear the same purple stoles during both Lent and Advent, as symbols of restrained, austere waiting for a grand event.
Wait, there’s a fast and advent calendars get around it? What’s even the logic of that? It doesn’t count if it’s from a little cardboard box with a number on it? Also, how did I not know this? My childhood best friend was Catholic, and I even went to mass with her family once.
Don't ask me, i stopped going to church half a lifetime ago. I was raised catholic, even got pretty serious and mystical about it at a point in my life, but it wasn't meant to last. Too many paradoxes, hypocrisies and other weird stuff.
There's a fountain pen ink advent calendar. I bought one off season/on sale a few years ago and I'm STILL trying to use up all the little bottles of ink.
Hubs grabbed a Pergamino coffee one with 25 small batch rare Colombian whole bean coffees. We always do Star Wars Lego and I grabbed the Bonne Maman one on a tip from fam. Got a meowdvent calendar from Aldi for the cats lmao
Same here, but with healthy snacks for every day! Day 1 was the goofy little beans that I tried before and hated. Day 2, wasabi peas, which I can eat about 3/day of due to heat. Going to check now to see what day 3 shall bring!
I also don't like green tea, and I just got a new box of Celestial Seasonings today that I could barely fit in my cupboard for all the other boxes already jammed in there.
I love chai and chai-type teas, and I love a plain English Breakfast, but I guess I can still be a fan even if my tastes are kind of basic. That black tea with chocolate flavoring is TASTY!
I noticed one day that all my teas are herbal, caffeine free ones purely by accident. Lots of mints, citrus, and other fruit teas just because that's my jam.
I keep meaning to try an English breakfast or an Earl Grey, but then I see a new cherry blend or something and that's all she wrote.
A sticker advent calendar sounds amazing! I have a friend who gives me a cat treat one almost every year and every year the cats find it, tear into it, and eat all the treats early.

Not sure about Tumeric Chai. I might try it.
Glad to be vindicated? Sad for you :/
Some were traumatic.
That said, #2 really likes the QuikTea instant turmeric ginger chai, but he also nibbles on cinnamon sticks so take that fwiw.
I got a Caramel advent calendar. It’s freaking lovely.

Mix them together? I'm going to die.
Here in the US at least, I don’t think the Advent fast is as intense for Catholics as Lent is, but I know people who do *something* in that direction.
Next year I’m getting jam and/or fountain pen ink calendars.
For instance, I don't drink black tea, which is like... most tea.
Lemon Honey Drop, for the curious.

For legal purposes this is a joke
