for anyone who’s curious, the ca society of addiction medicine was founded in 1973 so they very much did not make an error choosing this acronym at the time lol it’s just extremely unfortunate now
Where I work this stands for Customer Support and Account Management and they're always talking about "expanding our CSAM offering", "improved revenue from CSAM" etc and I can't get them to stop
uh...it's great if you want to induce seizures in a variety of people (particularly on BS), but not for much else.
Why a transparent visor? I thought visors were for sun blockage.
works for the trust and safety side too. eyes that have seen too much terrible shit can cause inadvertent psychic damage to bystanders, so you wear this like cyclops has his red glasses or visor to protect everyone from his laser eye beams.
I know someone who was shouted out from the main stage at this event & had to run around dampening the thank-you posts. California Society of Addiction Medicine is a longstanding professional association working on the medical problem of substance dependence, but
...is there a way to add an extra letter to that acronym without making it too clunky? Maybe CASAM (CAlifornia Society of Addiction Medicine) or CSOAM (California Society Of Addiction Medicine)?
we have the Manchester Ambulatory Surgical Center (MASC) here which is similarly hilarious because they give you a free T-shirt when you have a procedure so there's people walking around all over proudly labeled "MASC" and i giggle every time
Huh. I don't think asking a professional association that had to fight within medicine to get treatment of substance dependence respected as a medical solution to a medical problem to change its name, used within medicine to promote this minority view in a 12 step society, is...a great idea either.
She could do a test spot with rubbing alcohol, see if the visor can handle it, and if the screenprinting will come up. It's a kickass visor, apart from the text.
I don't know what this stands for but in my trying to figure it out I think I might have got it? Asking cuz you're a friend, does the first word sometimes mean child and the last word mean material or media?
I vaguely remember there was some US-based encryption-related series of tweets over on Twitter a long time back, and everyone from the UK/Irish/Australian side of Twitter was going "...I'm sorry, *what* was that word???" to varying degrees.
My favourite example of this sort of thing is the time someone encountered an error trying to stream Irish rugby on Prime and Amazon customer support said "we apologize for the troubles."
Apparently there was once going to be a City University of Newcastle upon Tyne, and they had got as far as making the signs before they spotted the problem.
Ah yes. Also the name of our (🇧🇪) single government digital login (it’s pronounced cé-sam, like what Aladdin says to open the cave). https://www.csam.be/en/index.html

god doesn’t anyone google anything??
at least doctors are like, their own weird niche and a lot of them don’t seem to be very internet savvy somehow, but…
😬

And as someone who works it the field, it is occasionally jarring when you see them listed in guidelines/papers.
Um
Criminal defense attorney here. I…well, I’m gonna let my assistant step in here
like there aren’t a lot of Adolfs these days
