Thank you!

I had thought these contracts were all basically slotted, what factors makes players hold out on signing their rookie deals/are there even points to negotiate on?

Last 28 days happens to be his last 6 games
comment in response to post
Clearly we’re looking at a different 6 games somehow

I was watching the splits his OPS was like 50 points higher the week he got hurt, you need more than that to say things were trending in the right direction but either way it’s irrelevant now. If he can get healthy he will get a chance in the spring
comment in response to post
He had an OPS of .616 the last 6 games he played prior to getting hurt, slightly better than his prior numbers but still really bad

4 spot is cursed and is prob the biggest consistent issue with the lineup, that and Ks. No one has hit at 4, even guys who have hit at other spots like Abreu, Campbell. Do you put Anthony straight at 4 when he comes up?
comment in response to post
Skeptical that he was but telling that without his on-it’s-own disastrous 60 OPS+ the production from 1B has been even worse.

Can foresee one of these coaches doing the slight alteration push, getting flagged incorrectly and going ballistic on the ref and it being a point discussed all week. They should either ban all pushing like it used to be or just leave it as it is now. The eagles are just better at it and that’s ok
comment in response to post
Used to be the rule btw

I’d guess the opposite is true for the bats, they just go to sleep

Late and close sox this year: 198 PA, producing a .172/.293/.547 slash line. Collectively-against the easiest schedule in the league- Red Sox hitters are hitting worse than Tristan Casas in close games. This matches the eye test, the team will score some against the starter and then pack it in

And he seems pissed about it, love this guy

Agreed kid can run and cover multiple defensive positions and also can run into one at the plate, I would rather him take David Hamiltons role and then Roman to left, Duran to center

Steve’s a nepo baby but I think he’s at least a good DC, pats D fell apart without him this past year when he was passed over for DC by Mayo. Also they lost Bill and we don’t know what impact he had but I think Steve was a big part of it.

Damn thought Stock pitched well

Sorry you’re a snake who thought you could get rich off his tax policies and never thought about how you’re not gonna save money on taxes if you’re not making it in the first place. Got no sympathy for these hacks
comment in response to post
These people piss me off almost more than Trump, you support him and fund his campaign and then act all surprised and talk about how bad his policies are after the fact. He’s been saying the same thing about tariffs the whole goddamn time!

Future looks very bright, as does the present. I think sox took a bumpier road than necessary to get here but as long as ownership is willing to spend to complement there should be a competitive core of home grown talent to anchor teams that can contend for a long time.
comment in response to post
Most of these “anonymous execs” work for teams that would never sign this sort of deal and also never be truly competitive or keep their top talent around, they can shove it. Disappointed as a Red Sox fan that we gotta face this guy for the next 15 year and won’t get a chance to sign him.

The Russel Brand one was legit my exact thought seeing the news

Equality would demand 9pm on TNT on a Tuesday night… In all seriousness they are gonna do very well if they put it on for 7-8pm ET on a network channel. May outdraw the mens depending on who is playing some years, 9PM weekday on cable is just not a smart broadcasting strategy
comment in response to post
Only had 15 spring at bats. Looks bad right now but hopefully he can figure something out within a week or two… if he doesn’t maybe IL stint and they go to Masa?
comment in response to post
It feels early to be concerned about raffy but 0-8 with 7 Ks almost could not be worse
comment in response to post
Did we expect anything else
comment in response to post
I get saving it for opening day but have they not started at like 1 ET in the past? Seems weird that it’s later this year
comment in response to post
Fully aware and if they don’t do anything between now and training camp you bet we are going to see stories from some of the more “captive” reporters about how things are looking “better” and the oline looks to be “gelling” and how he’s had a great camp
comment in response to post
I don’t exactly trust the Forbes numbers as I think FSG is very tight with putting out their full financial picture. I don’t doubt they’ve been raking it in though, that NBA expansion fee isn’t gonna fund itself

Pittsburgh reporters did a deep dive and found they actually managed to lose money, had to click and read bc I didn’t believe it at first either but going through it sorta made sense.
comment in response to post
He was hitting something like .330/400+ obp not sure the slug last week
comment in response to post
Let me check who was in charge last draft… Oh looks like it was Elliott Wolf himself? Insane the attempts to buck his responsibility for the situation of the roster when the current FO have mostly been in influential roles for all the bad drafts but keep finding ways that it’s somebody else’s fault
comment in response to post
They played really bad and deserved to lose but the coaching decisions made very little sense, why not try pressure earlier? Why not foul with 1:30 left on when McNeese wasn’t making foul shots? They let a ton of time run off the clock for no reason
comment in response to post
Maybe they shouldn’t have donated money and supported his campaign

Had the best metrics of any of the bubble teams, besides 1-12 q1. Q1 games are not all the same, the bulk of UNCs losses were to top 15 teams and most either road or neutral site.
comment in response to post
If they picked him where they should have I agree people wouldn’t see the pick as much of a disaster as they do

My new tier of places to put the Rays: Montreal Raleigh Nashville In that order. I’m sure the order if MLB did it would have this list flipped but would love the Expos back and have family in Durham NC so would be really cool to hit a game.
comment in response to post
MTL Rays!

And the Niners would have been wrong either way but this way they got to spend 3 first round picks to do it
comment in response to post
Is he on the Hotseat? I get they relied heavily on Bryce Hopkins but gotta put up more of a fight
comment in response to post
Watched him play live at Duke and didn’t see why he was a first round guy. TBH he’s been more serviceable than I thought he would be
comment in response to post
They at least tried really hard to trade up for Maye, pats were just smart enough to say no. They also drafted Jones prob half a round before they had to it’s been a masterclass of mismanagement
comment in response to post
It’s an eyesore that makes me not want to watch the game being played on it
comment in response to post
Who has those numbers tho? Would they get reassigned if someone is cut in camp or is it up to the players?
comment in response to post
The reaction to the Giants signing Darius Slayton was very relatable-I think every sports fan has had that feeling of frustration where your favorite teams actions are dumb and make no logical sense with other things they have done
comment in response to post
Absolutely you put him at receiver, maybe let him contribute on defense a little in obvious passing downs if he still wants to try and play both ways a bit.
