Honestly thought this was a bit.

And at the same age, Ovi’s “playoff struggles” are miles better than what 34’s done.

Now that’s a trip. We did a few flights last year which is how we gained the irrational confidence to take this on. As I said, at worst it’ll be less painful than last night.

Have gotten a boat load of really good tips. This place has the juice. Go Leafs.

Oh nice. We just got a pair similar just for this trip. I was a bit skeptical but got talked into it, so glad to hear this worked.

Oh yeah, we have a bag of new toys that we plan to break out during the inevitable emergency.

This is my expectation.

Yeah this is a good one, we’ve been trying to reintroduce pouches the last few weeks specifically for take off / landing.

I can’t sleep on planes so not expecting to get much myself, but hope the kid does. Have experience with the last point on more than a few occasions on shorter flights.

Yeah, we’re unfortunately too late but I’m already regretting not getting an extra seat.

Nope. We just love it.

Oh that’s a great call. Thanks for this!

Appreciate it man. We’ve been a few times, but first time going to the northern side, and first longer haul with the kid.

We’re not bringing a car seat this time, going to be on our lap which is part of the worry, but that thing is awesome. I’m taking notes.
comment in response to post
Appreciate that. We have heard about folks using Benadryl. Kid is just under 2, so it’s not as much of a slam dunk as I understand it.

~1.5yo and overnight. Visiting your other country.

Also, if anyone has any tips, I am all ears. Unlike the Leafs in the playoffs, I have no idea how this is going to go.

Truly every other superstar of the past 20+ years has had a moment/run like that, except for 34.

1000%

Hey that’s fair.

I guess I’m just saying from a fan’s perspective, whether it’s injuries or just poor performance (clearly it’s been both), his playoff results are consistently underwhelming for a decade now. I think it’s totally valid that the player gets heat for that.
comment in response to post
Injured or not, his production this playoffs looks a whole lot like it has over the past 8 years. I also struggle with shrugging off the injuries as it’s clearly part of his profile, and has been for some time.
comment in response to post
I would not be saying a word if his playoff production matched his talent level over the prior 8 years. He hasn’t come close.

I think the player has some agency here.
comment in response to post
Totally, and it’s been that way for years.

Draisaitl has more goals in the last 2.5 playoffs than Matthews has in his career!

I have been banging this drum forever, but @downgoesbrown.bsky.social said it best, the Leafs are never going to win with Matthews turning into Phillip Danault every playoffs. It’s that simple.

And remind me who those 2019 Blazers beat again?

Seems like a whole lot of examples of teams to make it past the second round with only one AS?
comment in response to post
Yeah, I just don’t know how to value regular season success in the NBA these days. Look at Cleveland & Boston. OKC had a great year, but does anyone think they’re an all-time team like their record indicates?
comment in response to post
I look at it a bit differently. As you point out, there are no true juggernauts out there. I give zero value to All-Star selection, but the teams remaining have no more than 2 All-Stars. That’s the exact landscape where an all-time great should go on a multi-year run!
comment in response to post
The year they played three 7/8 seeds and no one better than a 4th seed? Look at the teams they’ve lost to during his prime. We’re not talking about juggernauts here.

The PA could change this if they cared.
comment in response to post
Yeah, this is really it for me.

You are all going to call me a homer but just explain to me why over the past ten years the Leafs are near the top of the league in suspensions, and near the bottom of the league in suspensions on opponents, despite being universally derided as highly skilled but soft little babies.

Thought that Puck Soup had a good discussion on this on yesterdays pod.

I’m far from a RINGZZ guy, and admittedly have paid less attention to the NBA in the past few years, but it feels noteworthy for a guy that’s talked about as one of the best of all time.

And??

Lol. To be fair that’s why I watch Ms. Rachel.
