🌱 Looking for opinions on these marigolds. They’re French Marigolds (Strawberry Blondes) noted for their shades of pink. Would people want these or are they too similar to regular Frenchies? 🌻🌷

I have lived in the tropics for decades and yet I just noticed this glorious tree for the first time (at the gas station on the side of the highway, no less!). The flowering period must be super short and I somehow missed them but damn--what a show! 🌱🌴 Cochlospermum vitafolium Thai: ฝ้ายคำ (สุพรรณิการ์)

Food morning lovely folk. A misty start to the day. Coffee and then I'll plan what to do with the day. Just been out and noticed the crocus flowers are starting to put a bit of colour on. I really need to go through the seed collection and device if I need any more. Have a good one 🌱

Devils club! This is a native plant (Oplopanax horridus) found here in western Washington and other places in North America. This time of year all we see are the woody stems with these nasty thorns. I was out doing field work when I spotted this after I almost grabbed it--that would have been bad! 🌱

Never expected to meet 100+ fire community, cry with strangers. I also meet each home. Fell in love with Altadena, the mountains behind… so many gardeners, melted composters, espalier fruit trees… Dead tired from volunteer days crawling into glass, rusty metal, nails. Lead dust. Sweat. All in. ❤️‍🩹🌱

I've never been successful growing eggplants with our short summer season. That's changed this year by planting the variety Nadia F1. Look at these beauties! 🍆👀 🌱

So Falco is flowering again 🌱 This blossom isn’t fully developed yet, the inner purple layer gets a lot more frilly and ruffled. We thought he was a goner but look at this 🥰

🌱 This photo was from last May, the lavender plants were just perking up, the chives were in bloom and a wine red iris, a gift from a friend was in bloom.

If you had the land, nut trees would be your friends in terms of calories, carbs and protein. Fruit for carbs. I think it's super hard to get all your calories from vegetable gardening, but tree crops can go a long way. But really it takes a community. 🌱

Our house is right beside a pineapple field. It's one of the primary crops here & the fruit sold at roadside stands nearby is ridiculously cheap. Before the mid 1980s I had never even tasted fresh, having grown up on canned in America. Now I grow in my own garden here in Thailand. #winning 🍍🌱🌴🪴

How perfect is this leaf though? Also, my Monstera is sprouting a new leaf right at its base, among the very first old and dusty leaves of its forefathers 🌱 I've never seen it do this before

Our 2 pink lemonades are finally doing well. They took longer to establish, which wasn't helped by the utility company leveling one of them, which grew back. I wouldn't have planted them if I hadn't also been able to plant 10 regular blueberries. All blueberries are finicky in imperfect conditions.🌱

🌱 Stopped at nursery for soil to sow seeds (lettuce, arugula, basil, maybe?) for kitchen window garden. My seeds were in envelopes in a box inside the house. Will chem sponge #EatonFire smoke off envs & hope they’ll be OK. Talked w/ cashier at nursery; her daughter’s Altadena house burned 🫶 😢

😊 Side shoots from the parent plant are best to plant. So after you go through the initial process of growing out these crowns, you can then start to harvest the side shoots. From crowns, it takes about 3 years to fruiting, from side suckers/shoots, about 18 months, we are talking naturally. 🌱
