One square metre of timber framed, rendered hemp-lime
wall has a carbon footprint of -35.5kg CO2e; that is, it removes 35kg of atmospheric CO2 and stores it, potentially for hundreds of years.
Brick construction generates 110kg CO2e per m2.

The best time to plant a tree was 20 yr ago etc https://woodknowledge.wales/cross-laminated-cascades-in-cardiff/
I would have thought that was fairly obvious.
Perhaps someone knows more?

We only have so much timber to last the next few decades. Needs to be used as sparingly as possible. Unfortunately some people celebrate using huge amounts as it is βlocking awayβ more carbon.
And I agree, if we can promote a switch to structural timber, we should see greater planting. Desperately needed.
