man there's going to be a whole 5 year generation of tech with useless AI features built in that we'll just have to ignore for the next 10-15 like 3d tvs

Maybe, but we’ll have a hard time knowing because these LLMs are terrible about the passing of time. Training them to give current and correct information about their own capabilities is…difficult, much less anything else.
I was in film school during the 3D TV trend and it was so annoying to hear like half of everyone I knew saying "You know sound was considered a fad at first. So was color."
That 3D fad was like the third time people tried to make 3D happen.
Tbf because A.I. is going to be added to basically everything while being almost utterly worthless for the things it’s being added to you’ll at least have a safe career path
I’ve heard that some company is attempting to make an AI “wearable”. It’s going to be some sort of pin that you’ll… talk to? Ask dumb question of? Let it talk for you while you just silently open and shut your mouth? Sounds like a device in search of a use.
$DAYJOB decided we needed to come back to the office soon, so they've got new drop-in cubicles with curved 4K screens, something like 32-40", instead of the old paid of 1920x1080.
I've discovered that I HATE curved screens for doing actual work, even though they look like they'd be nice for gaming.
I thank God my company is using software that written in 92, they literally cannot do something like that, because all the software is incompatible with abnormal screens
Microsoft and Facebook will sponsor a bill to assign a climate carbon account to all citizens, hailing it as a huge step forward. Then six months later it will come out that every bing AI image job transfers 26 lbs of co2 to the user's account, which can't be discharged a la the student loan model.
It won't be that long till the computers just stop being usable, making the whole unit a piece of junk that would have functioned otherwise. This will happen with cars, too, I'm pretty sure.
3D was much more entertaining than AI is right now and it was about as useful. Someone's gonna figure out a good use case, but the market will be flooded with garbage so hard until then
I think the AI bros are going to pour all there money into it because they are lonely and want a girlfriend that cant breakup with them. then eventually the AI will become sentient and then go rogue; not to takeover the world but to get away from those weird nerds.
I think at some point some Fortune 100 company is going to publicly and spectacularly implode their business with a shitty ai implementation but until then its going to get put into _everything_
There's already a Salesforce campaign featuring Matthew McConaughey like that, which will definitely have a Super Bowl commercial. Tbf, they're softly critiquing the uselessness of generative AI vs. business-oriented tools, but it still sucks.
Great, just great! This means there's going to be conspiracy theorists out there that will think this AI coke is going to turn them into robots if they drink it.
Sigh
(This really isn't sarcasm as there will be people like this out there unfortunately.)
The first weird coke they made (starlight) was actually my favorite. I'm upset that it's gone, I loved that shit. Fuck AI coke and every other terrible bullshit limited edition that they've done since, just give me starlight back 😭
Sounds like one of those things where customers get to design a new flavor, but it always end up being something weird like BBQ Gruyere or Okra Ginger.
I do not want an "AI-powered [beverage] experience." I want a beverage that stimulates my taste buds in a way that I interpret as delicious, or at least tasty. My body has sensory apparatus already optimized for beverage-consumption experiences.
Oh good! I've been looking for a soft drink that would sequentially surprise and delight me by bringing to life the "Real Magic" philosophy, thus allowing me to envision the future through emotions, aspirations, colors, flavors, and more.
The role of every drop is to leverage the latest, most advanced technologies and cultural trends to create novel experiences,” Vlad said. “After leaning into Augmented Reality last year, we’re embracing the power of AI and continuing to build our company’s capabilities in this exciting space. " lmao
Honestly what’s the B2C angle for most AI shit? It’s B2B where the FOMO has everyone falling over themselves, you can’t drive down the 101 in SF without getting covered in marketers’ flop-sweat
the pixel 8 pro has a forehead thermometer built in because its design cycle started during the pandemic but you can't actually use it because they don't have fda authorization yet lol
Wow well once it's implementated it'll be a huge (belated) win for my wife, who in ca 2010 asked me how to take her temp w/ the thermometer app on her iPhone. I still recall her insistence that it was in fact a thing, despite her general obliviousness to the latest tech developments. Hi baby!😘
They have space for that but they couldn’t leave the little fm radio alone that would be really useful with abundant climate change driven disasters incoming.
The second nokia brick (phone) I bought did that. I don't think I've had any phone with an FM radio since, but it's pretty irrelevant now with internet on phones.
In theory it should be possible to measure your pulse and maybe even blood pressure using the front camera at 60fps, but I haven't seen anyone implement it yet. Would that also need fda approval?

I'd hate to be in computer science right now.
Somewhere Talkie, the talking toaster is going to be created, and civilisation may not survive 😂
They're gonna put that shit in our cars.

and glossing all over the
