How is it that on almost all cross-platform surveys, Flutter is named as most popular framework.
But yet most mobile teams I know doing cross-platform usually do React Native. Better-known cross-platform apps (that are not Google ones): usually also RN.
What am I missing π€

a lot of devs are frustrated with the current state of Flutter's development and decided to fork it as Flock.

I wonder what forced the community to create Flock
I don't see any big activity around it so far.
lots of behaviors that should be "default" for a web app are emulated instead; you can try seleting text with your mouse and you'll see it jumping around, scrolling isn't as smooth as it should be and you can't even right-click links and images
Tide (UK) and Nubank (BR) are both using Flutter in their big banking apps, even the brazilian government is starting to use it for their official apps too
There been a couple of projects/libraries/frameworks I've been curious about, but knowing they'll mostly drop it in the future makes it so I don't even look into it further. Ain't no one got time for changing stacks every few months
Same way Rust tops favourite programming language surveys.
Adoption and maturity of the frameworks usually make a great difference

The last time I checked, there were rarely any Flutter developer jobs compared to RN positions, at least in the EU
Big fan of flutter tho. Its also whats ProductMe made with
Seems like it about access to talent with specific framework.
First hire web- RN
However, in many emerging markets, they are more likely to be mobile-first.
Same with Svelte being one of most beloved frameworks for frontend bit barely anyone uses it
Other readers, last August Simon said people should actually be comparing Expo to Flutter, where Expo is a framework built on React Native.

Flutter enabled animations, charts, and other rich app features that we wanted better than RN.
Wrote more on this here: https://tech.endowus.com/tech-values-part-2/
1. As you said, itβs ready. Easier for consultancies to integrate into their service stack
2. Itβs older, and thus would have had a longer time for market saturation
With Flutter, you need to pick up a new language (Dart). And Flutter for Web just doesn't seem as mature for web as React
The support and community were basically non existent. Supposed to be better now, but it was somewhat off putting.
Not something anyone _ever_ picks out of my CV to discuss.

Flutter is very productive, but there are longevity concerns (driven by Google and Dart as a language) .
RN has great DX and our team had some familiarity with React.
Ultimately we went with Kotlin Multiplatform, but RN was 2nd, Flutter 3rd.
The tooling from all I heard from people using RN is way worse as well as the support from Meta compared to what Google is doing.
The many glitches that I see in this app here is reason for me not to be tempted to try RN.
