Putin comes against Le Pen ruling. Authoritarians hates any possibility of legal restraint on their leadership. Trump will doubtless do the same. Journalists do not have to follow this framing. There is zero reason for them to start a report by questioning whether the ruling is democratic.

βFrance doesnβt give a crap what Russia/The USA thinksβ
Is the ultimate get out of jail card "I'm a politician and therefore cannot be held accountable by the courts"?
Otherwise his Spartacus moment is just the two of them. Making him next in line for the same justice.

It will happen.
It is not undemocratic.
Ignorance of the law is no defence etc, etc.
Tthe storyline is - the fear from her winning in the next election.
Most mainstream "journalism" is compromised. Even where stories are decent, editors weaponize headlines.
In saying that January 6th was a clear signal as to how Trump disrespected the rule of law and the constitution.
What did he say in 2012?
He was proposing 10 years of ineligibility.
Whatβs changed?
He is now under formal investigation for embezzlement of public funds.
Is that what populism preys on?
But bits, useful idiots and assorted scum works as well
When will something pull them up? Or is our control of the media really as feeble as it seems?
But it seems MLP doesn't dispute the facts: 12 years of blatant embezzlement.
Isnβt also it time that we had a thorough inquiry into just who pays him and what for.

France takes political crimes seriously.
The penalty wasn't invented. It's in French law for the crimes she committed.
Media can discuss whether the court should have been lenient or not, but thats the only issue that should be up for debate.
Really really hard to imagine they would frame the story of a left/centre politician convicted of embezzling from taxpayers in the same way.
Makes me so angry that they just continually drip feed facisct propaganda into the UK.
Management pressure?
Click-bait outrage monetisation?
Punch and Judy show portrayal of all politics without addressing issues?
It's a false framing, of course; as if democratic will prevails over black letter law, and as if legal decisions can be decided by plebiscite.
But a majority of French agree or accept that their legal code means something. As they did in 2021 when Sarkozy was convicted.
We could do worse than do similar here!
Have you noticed Hancock and Mone getting ahead of the Covid Inquiry findings and trying to do similar.
Discrediting it, calling in to question the Inquiries independence and integrity.
And Media have ran with those stories.
Pretty sure Nigel Frogfaced Fascist did something similar with EU funds.

The BBC regularly use the "illegal immigrants" line despite channel crossings being legal if refugees have no other way to get here to claim asylum.
Questiontime gave UKIP their platform.
