Assume it’s due to people in the actual senate hate him because he’s an idiot that tried to get them to run on cutting social security a couple years ago
According to Woodward's book, lots of Republicans despise Trump and MAGA in private conversations, but are afraid to say so in public. The fact that his vote was in private allowed them to act out on that. if it was public, Scott wins in a landslide.
The senate wants to be able to actually function and not be lead around by the nose chasing Trump’s whims. Plus, the only senator hated more than Scott is Cruz. That’s a lot of hate.
"Give it to that senator from Texas"
"Ted Cruz???"
*Pause for laughter*
(I realize that Cornyn is the senior senator and so he would be the one up for leadership.)
Believe it or not, behind closed doors lots of Republicans despise MAGA (think Lindsay Graham). Woodward pointed that out in his book. If this wasn't a private vote and was public, Scott would have won in a landslide.
Most of the republicans in the senate knows that MAGA is bad. Their initial statements about Trump in 2015 was really how they really feel. They caved to the lowest part of the party though.
Some old-school guys still in there, hopefully they have the will to try to keep democracy from completely failing. I hate that I have to have hope in a few old republican bastards, but it might be our best chance.
How he gets re elected to anything is beyond me.
Just a vile person so good for whoever wants moral if that's possible in this party running the Senate part of government.
These are rare examples of the most spineless of humans finding enough individualism to publicly voice absolute hatred for Gaetz, Cruz and oh btw Boebert
This is a small w. As I said earlier, you may not like Mitch but that mofo knows the Senate. Keep in mind Scott tried to stab him in the back. He who laughs last laughs first. My pick is Thune! Mitch knew the votes.
although i’d like to hope that in 2 years more people will feel less fearful of maga backlashes as trump can no longer run and maga seems to be a trump personality cult.
The Senate could have convicted Trump after his impeachment & avoided this nightmare. Make it a secret ballot, but binding ONLY if it reaches the 2/3 threshold. Then release the names & how they voted. If it FAILS to get a supermajority, then the vote remains secret. No harm, no foul, no reprisals.
I don't know if it's true or not but I read he was also Elon's choice. There goes Ronnie's plan to put himself in Scott's position until the next election when he could then run for senate.
Scott will permanently carry the stain / baggage of not only the Medicare fraud he was involved in, but also his written intention to "sunset" (END) Social Security & Medicare. He put it IN WRITING, on his WEBSITE, and then attempted to DENY it. Typical MAGAt behavior.
They must be shaken with Rubio seat up and vote gone, they cannot risk another seat and vote. Trump is surrounding himself with Looney Tunes .... We know Rubio will not last long.
Senators are not crazy about giving up their power. Scott would weaken the Senate in service to Trump, Thune will preserve more of the institution’s power.
It doesn't surprise me. As a Floridian, I can attest that he is a thoroughly unlikeable, annoying human. He knows everything and always knows more than you. Leadership skills are completely lacking.
Nope. According to Bob Woodward's book, lots of Republicans privately disdain Trump and MAGA. Only reason they voted like this is because it was secret vote. If it was public, Scott wins in a landslide.
The only solace we can take is that the Republican Party spends just as much time fighting with each other as they do dreaming of ways to screw over everybody who isn’t a billionaire

Quite predictable, actually.
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
There's enough egos in the GOP that hate being told who they need to vote for to be the Leader. Especially from those outside the Senate.
really Aaron, really.......
Apparantly it didnt work, awesome, Senate will Senate 🤣
Rick Scott is so much an a**hole, even they don't like him.
They just like that he's the one that "normies" hate the most.
That's why I have a shirt that says: "This is our home, not your church"

Republican Senators may be the last defence before the U.S. falls into the abyss.
