Basically teaching people to be dumb and unable to fend for themselves. What better political move than to reduce the cognitive ability of the people it's trying to govern or control. Animals are domesticated like that...

The more this stuff gets produced, the more it costs them money and the more its consumed by other ai's
Use duckduckgo as a browser on mobile and you can nuke the ai responses just dont use google search
The casual AI proliferating on search engines, etc., is a people-pleaser, in that it seeks to tie items together neatly and satisfyingly even if it has to invent. It seems to assume the questioner knows more than it does. It’s definitely unreliable.
I mean in the one hand that is how language works. But you should be able to define your new idiom not some computer. So tell us what it means that you ‘can’t lick a badger twice.’
the correct answer?
"likely refers to the numbers in the context of the Tufty and the Furryfolk series, where Policeman Badger has two legs and Willy Weasel has seven fingers. The series, created by the RoSPA, focuses on road safety education for children"
Although it isn’t really a traditional saying I intend to use ”two for a badger, seven for a squirrel” as often as possible going forward because it deserves to be a widely used idiom
Why didn't it invent a meaning for this - it just repeated it. This is all so depressing. How can we break it? It's time to put rocks in the combine harvester.
It's gas because it's clearly tailoring the answers to the user, which is definitely not going to be a problem for getting impartial and non-biased answers using Google (badger prices may vary by location)
What are people using instead of Google for mobile that doesn't do the AI thing? Ad blocker removes AI and sponsored results on desktop but I haven't found an equivalent for mobile, and Google does an AI summary now automatically for pretty much any search, regardless of whether you want it or not.
good enough for my usage, but i'm a computer nerd who searches for computer nerdy things and for factual information re: the world -- dunno if this is representative of what you need
separately, i also pay for it; dunno if the free tier is good enough for you
I ironically tried searching for how to Google without an AI overview and got one.
If you use expletives in your search results it won't create them. Not so helpful if you are using a work computer but
Duckduckgo. You can remove all AI stuff.
This might be niche, but it also has this very neat feature that you can with just one line click restrict results to a certain country. I use it all the time
I just swear at it to chase it away. "Cookie recipe" -ai slop
"Fucking Cookie recipe" -no summary, only searches. Still not perfect.
Hunting down better swears now just in case there's any that scare them harder.
I have been very happy with DuckDuckGo for years (you can turn off the AI), but there are good reports about https://Kagi.com, which is a paid search service ($10 USD/ month)

It's made by filth!
i checked and i guess you can opt out, which seems to require the sacrifice of a goat on the full moon for google.

Inserting -ai worked two days ago, but doesn't seem to now.
