getting to read books you loved as a child to your own kids is such a wonderful experience

The Little Prince was my
all time favorite.
"Get some beer, the tiger drank all of yours"...
(I remember the moment. It was better than the first step or the first word. I swelled with pride. )
I took great joy in reading that to all 4 of mine.
The CoN were the first chapter books I read to myself, though, when I was about 7. (All of them.)
Ever watch or read The Magicians?
So much fun! The first book I learned by heart. Both kids loved it too.
At the moment this 4 year old is interested in Star wars books made for kids. No more Moomin.
I was that awful bookseller who would suggest Where the Red Fern Grows bc we need to make sure the kiddos share our trauma
I also recommend Gnomes by Wil Huygen. The art is really good
- Enid Blyton’s Mallory Towers series
- The Hobbit
- The ‘Adventure’ series with Hal and Roger
So they read us Kipling's Just So stories, and Pa made up different-nearly-every time stories.
The Arbuthnot Anthology was also a great source.
Have fun with this!!
Then my youngest spent years alternating between impersonating Death and swearing in (translated) Feegle.
Babe the Gallant Pig…
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe…
Mrs. Frisbee and the Rats of NIMH…
Holes…
The most important concepts in life are found in the pages of children’s literature. ❤️
I still cry about Rachel, though.
Danny Champion of the World
and soon my first great grandchild will be in possession of it...
A book that was handed down from her great-great grandfather!
I'm currently sharing The Hobbit with my almost 11yo.
Before, I shared the Johnny books by TP with my other child, but unfortunately he is now too old to get read books by his mom.
