You are one of the very best ones, Phil. I will always be grateful for Twitter connecting us (2008?!) And am grateful for all that you supported in my Scirens work and pivot to writing/directing! ✨
:) My only real bite from nostalgia was due to all the people I met, like you, through the service. With the huge jump in people here, and the rate still high, that's likely to still be something that can occur here too.
We were lucky enough to have such an expansive experience through T. We know that nothing can ever be fully re-created, but know that a similar opportunity awaits us. :)
Welcome to the Deactivated Club. Felt like I was crawling out of some sewage drenched clothes and stepping into a warm shower when I finished deactivating my aging account. Aaaaah
I'm sure it's a bit of a wrench. You already know Bluesky is the new "it" place though.
And since you have clout and reach, you'll hear pretty quickly if anybody tried to zombie you over there.
I never gave him the chance, I deleted my twitter account as soon as I saw the place turn into a haven for white supremacists and nazi-fest after his takeover.
Wait. What did you do? Was it deleted bc of inactivity or bc of something you did? I'm tempted to tweet something like once a month just so I don't get deactivated there.
I hope you'll find better quality of interactions (and subs to your newsletter) here rather than on Twitter, considering the number of inactives and bots in this 600k "users". So far, is it better? 😊
I left Twitter years ago. It has been neat having bsky and seeing old friends again. I've been on here since 2023, but didn't know you were here until recently. Good to see you!
It's fundamentally a moral imperative to leave Twitter for me. Musk nurtures and encourages unfettered bigotry, hatred, misogyny, divisiveness, and the evisceration of democracy.
I think we migrated over about the same time, for all the same reasons. Reading anything fun presently? I just started the new Firefly novel (Aim to Misbehave, by Rosiee Thor)
I recall you doing the same thing once with 'shit' on Twitter. You were very clear that you intentionally don't use it and then posted, and I think I have this right: Donald Trump is a piece of shit.

In the meantime, you can use your website to self authenticate (click 'change handle' it'll talk you through it )
Good riddance.
I had very few followers (I like it like that) and had only been on Twitter since, I think, 2018.
I hope the rest of the multitude of people I followed there find their ways here. I miss them.
And maybe start guilt-tripping - just a tiny bit - people who refuse to leave. Elon doesn't deserve one more packet of traffic to that site.
And since you have clout and reach, you'll hear pretty quickly if anybody tried to zombie you over there.
This is feeling like a much better place to be.
Sorry for your loss

Glad you're here

Are you aware of custom handles for users with their own domain?
What a horrifying and unnecessary loss. I'm so sorry, Phil. We are all worse off for losing your account.
It should be saved for the right occasions and the right people.
Seemed proper to me. As does this.
Time to fill bluesky with that bad astronomer knowledge
(Probably Elmo Husk’s fault but I’ll pretend it is.)
Glad to have stumbled upon you here.
