just a friendly reminder that one of my favorite secular holidays is coming up next week, so (if you haven’t already) it’s time to start figuring out your menu and shopping list for henry kissinger death day

Are we still allowed to celebrate it? I decided to call it the happy first day of the holiday season day.... that's when I get to start reading my Christmas themed novels while drinking peppermint mocha coffee.🙃🎄🧑🎄🖖
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because it's about sharing a good meal with people you love instead of spending money on gifts nobody likes anyway.
Good food, family, friends, football. And other people who wash the dishes after I have cooked all morning!
I would like to propose a recipe, the Noble Pea Surprise:
1 lb frozen peas, thawed
6 oz prosciutto, cut thick and diced
2 T olive oil
2 shallots, chopped find
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 T Aleppo pepper
I always remember when Cher had her TV show, and Kissinger was Secretary of State, she sang “I wonder where’s Kissinger now?” to the old melody of “I Wonder Who’s Kissing Her Now?” It had just enough critical sarcasm in it that I always recall it with a smile.
Personally, as a devout follower of French Toast Day and a lover of Henry Kissinger Death Day I'm glad they don't fall on a conflicting day this year. ☺️
I hope everyone partakes in the traditional Kissinger RumbleGroan at the start of every course. Nothing like the ripple of geriatric grumbling to get the night going.
Are you SURE he's still dead? I think the dumpster is going to appoint him to a cabinet position soon.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ww7WlSPi9gc this will live forever in my mind!
I have my menu all done and everything I need to make it:
Turkey
Cornbread and crouton dressing with sausage and fresh herbs
Collar Greens with red onion and bacon
Cranberry, shallot and Dried Cherry Compote
Mashed potatoes
I was no fan of the later Hitch, but his two-part cover story in Harpers concerning Kissinger's covert disruption of the 1968 Paris peace talks is the finest piece of journalism I've ever read.
When I heard he was finally dead, I started singing. It's to the tune of the children's song Head Shoulders Knees & Toes:
Hen-ry Kissinger is dead, he is dead
Hen-ry Kissinger is dead, he is de-aaad
And Hen-ry Kissinger is dead, Hen-ry Kissinger is dead, he is dead.
For many years, friends and I did a semi potluck Thanksgiving. The host would make the protein and maybe mashed potatoes and/or gray, and everyone else would show up with a side dish or pie. Not only did it not put all the cooking on one person, it made clean up easy.
That's how we're doing our annual Friendsgiving next week. I am in charge of all things potato – mashed, plus brandied yams – and making the gravy. Best thing is that I only have to walk next door. 😄
I remember literally cackling aloud when I heard it announced. Full on Grace Jones in "A View To Kill"—head thrown back, gleaming eyes, the works. But, y'know, way less goddess-like.
Got mine all prepped. Tried a couple of new recipes - the corn soufflé was good, the apple spice cake was dry, but all the old standards are prepped and ready. #Thanksgiving
As it will be the first celebration, what traditions should be encouraged on this day? Maybe exchanging carpets or buying a new carpet to commemorate the carpet bombing of Laos and Cambodia?
It falls on my son's birthday so the adults will celebrate it once the kids have gone home/to bed. I'm thinking a fat doob and left over birthday cake to start.
Henry Kissinger as you know when the Nobel peace prize. In the parks in the hills above Berkeley California there is a peace Grove with a tree planted for every Nobel peace prize winner so there’s a Henry Kissinger tree planted basically in Berkeley.
I like to think of him standing in hell looking around confused while the demons argue about who gets to deal with him. Mainly I picture Baphomet and Beelzebub trying to bully Legion into taking him.

Finnish news media arranged a poll on US candidates. Kamala got 80% of the vote.
We just joined NATO. We have 1300 km of common border with Russia. DJT will dismantle Nato. Said so

The collective doesn't get to tell us how to enjoy things.
someone else is gonna have to figure it out this time, i’m not feeding anyone til hanukkah
I'm hosting/cooking for the first time and it is a lot of work and planning

Menu pending.
a nice dinner and toasting to the fact that he finally died is fine.
So anyway, does anybody know what Cambodian, Vietnamese, Bangladeshi, and Indonesian foods pair well with champagne?
What’s a typical dish?
