Last Jedi Best Jedi.
That sentiment's so universal, Burning Man attendees often joke "next burn was better" at events.
And some of the loudest Star Wars haters constantly get those details wrong.
Force Almighty, on recent rewatch they aren't nearly as snappy, gorgeous, or philosophical as I remember. Teenage me was working from a VERY different baseline for "great film."
I'm mostly indifferent to the first two. Though I actually think at least The Last Jedi has some cool setpieces.
The first one is ok, ok
The second one is fantastic,
The third one, was made by committee and it feels like it
And 99% of the series they've done on Disney Channel.
Empire and Rogue One are the high water marks for all the films.
Andor and Skeleton Crew were both amazing for different generations of fans
The OT was a collaboration of many writers, editors, and directors. The hubris of George that it was all his genius is why the prequels were as bad as they were.
Star Wars has really tough fans who want it to be one specific thing for them, and can’t really be anything else.
Real Star Wars fans are just looking to have a good time. Star Wars has -always- had weird shit. Celebrate the good, ignore the bad.
Like the Endor movies. They were not good, so mostly forgotten.
Worse ideas overall but way way way better execution.
But they spend the runtime apologizing to the CHUDS (where's Rose), faking out and buying back every stake, and parcels of a major plot point to a Fortnight event.
C-3PO had his memory erased forever! Jk lol, R2 had a backup.
Rey is dead! JK lol, force heal.
TLJ is a very good movie.
TROS is a movie.
But Rise of Skywalker…wow, what a mess.
