Has anyone done like a "RPG skills to develop as a player / PC" series or post? I feel like I see a ton of talk about GM advice and design thoughts, but little about the player side outside of individual game books.

Sure. I started with some anecdotes of gaming groups that fell apart over the years and what could be learned from my and other members of those groups mistakes.
I divided it into two parts. The game and the people at the table and building characters in the fiction. 1/2
I covered basic things like being a decent human being and caring for one another. Also recognizing when a group isn‘t for you and getting rid of people who ruin everyone‘s fun. For Characters I talked about creating Characters that are fun for you, if applicable your GM and the group 2/2
I did some improv workshops on this at Gencon the last few years. One of the big ones was honoring the stakes of a scene and pushing for your characters wants.
I used the start of an Alien cinematic campaign to show them what they do when they actually push for those things.
Aside from several podcasts Iain had already kindly directed you to, I've got a top ten tips and other stuff I've put here and there. I'll try to get something posted when I'm not currently mid-con. 😁
I'm thinking stuff like playing to lift, drive your character like a stolen car / playing to lose, how to frame and cut a scene, how and when and if to hold secrets, etc, but like collected together instead of a bunch of good but disparate sources.
The Role Better Podcast is about this.
@metanate.bsky.social @dontstopmenow.bsky.social host it, but they refuse to do decent advertising for their great episodes. So I'm reduced to raving about it like it's a deep, dark secret.
It won't be for every player, but I seriously think some D&D players would be super into / good at comedy improv. From a perspective, a D&D game often involves group improv work, it's just not couched in those terms.
It also could help players learn basics, like "Yes, and...", which is CRITICAL

It's closing words:
"We want to engage with the character. Everything else is just meaningless details.“
