Meta's great new idea, now that Facebook and Instagram are infected with AI slop, is to also let AI-generated characters made by users appear as actual accounts on the platforms. The last stage of "social" media is millions of bots giving each other thumbs-up reacts.

I just successfully deleted my 17 year old account, give it a whirl.
I sacked the site ages ago.
AI all the way down. 😄
Poke me and I would slap you Zuckerberg!!
Unfortunately the hate driven interactions that they chose to fixate on for 'advertising' might make their 'numbers' look better but has driven away their actual product (us).

I'll probably get rid of the app at some point tbh, barely use it anymore anyway
How much money are they firehosing into that thing hoping that it will eventually generate profit somehow?
How many people are going to needlessly lose their jobs for it?
It’s completely broken.
Ha, the modern landline...
Yea, that tracks.
Each raccoon now in existence in what was the USA generates an annual average of 92,572 safety alerts to the proper authorities raising the alarm as to the danger they may present. Because safety.

Thank you!
(I didn't WANT to live in the timeline where Bradbury and Beckett and all were right. )
Hasn't Facebook already lost class action and/or antitrust lawsuits over fraudulent advertising data?
Will advertisers pay serious money to this moron to entice bots to buy their products? What's the purpose of made up characters infecting a space full of people?
This is a real killer app scenario!

I think the brilliance here is just too revolutionary for me to understand.
I only use it now to look back at my memories
I only use this one and the majority appears to be bots
"What if we... flood the platform with bots?? I guess? But we call them AI, so that makes rich tech dorks excited, and investors will cheer!"
And social media looked like it was going to be so much fun 20 yrs ago 😞
(Please BlueSky, don't disappoint🙏)
Our tech overlords have gone completely mask off that the platforms are user driven and popularity is organic in anyway.
