Independents are legitimate candidates with as much right to stand for a seat as any party member.
They should be reported as serious candidates who are offering something voters may want.
They’re not challenging the natural order, they are the natural order.

Australia! 🍀🍀🍀
On the larger scale, I’d love to see people working out they have options, they don’t have to vote for more of the same.
Both 4C and MW were of standard I thought this week ie good journalism. If it isn't then we don't watch 🌻🧘♀️OK if people differ, just watch/read the whole issue not just the headlines
Back then, the locals regarded supporting anyone outside the LNP as a form of deviancy.
Schools would get the likes of Kennett, Hawker and the Tehan dynasty in to reinforce the message early to the kids.
I would love to see an independent get in. Shake that area right up.
The ALP is a spineless bunch just like the Dem's who are doing nothing much to oppose Musk's asset-stripping takeover.
Better vote cross bench to face Gina/Dutton's existential threat.

A party machine was beaten, and beaten without tricks or shabby campaigning. It was just beaten. And a candidate who concealed his failure so often was exposed. So rare, so important.
And I’m going to do it all over again. 🩵

Poor sense of humour, for someone who appeared on a light entertainment show.
It was funny.
I would only add that we also gained a professional who has brought that expertise to the Parliament, instead of another career pollie who goes from staffer to MP/Senator almost directly, like Josh Frydenberg, without direct knowledge of any sector of the economy other than politics.
Block voting/lockstep voting by the Duopoly is hardly Democracy at work!
Some resistance to change is natural!
BUT;
Manipulation of the electoral rules to protect the Duopoly's position is cynical manipulation and borderline criminal!
The Libs think they're going to win back Ind seats they lost in the last Election!
They really don't get how disconnected from Australians they truly are!
Now;
Josh Frydenburg gets it!
Tim Wilson never will
Dr Ryan & Zoe Daniel will increase their margins this next Election!
He’s the same guy, same values.
The party lost him just like so many others in the community.
Now, in the last desperate days they are resorting to new levels of fear, division and disinformation.

This is more likely to happen if they know we have other options and will vote in our own interests.
"insurgents" who challenge Dutton's path to power?
1) Dutton doesn't have the god-given right to the prime ministership despite ABC's most strenuous efforts to help him get it.
2) Parties win power, not individual members. This is not a presidential race.
But it’s not a novelty act or “stealing” a seat, it’s a legitimate candidate.
Just thinking out loud...
But open governance and complete transparency of the internal conduct of political parties would be a very very good thing.
Maybe they should spend more time asking why.
Of course they should have grasped it by now.
Just two locuses of propaganda each being played off against each other by the media, both equally owned by the same people who own the media.
The media is an equal player in the game, no kind of independent observer.

Of course, it's now 40 years later, and it's proven to be the biggest fuckup ideology-wise since Central Europe in the 1930s. So no excuses. /
They hold a ball in Canberra for them to socialise together. Red fucking carpet. "I'm wearing...."
(Cont /2)
The 2 majors play the whole quid pro quo game: "I'll give you the inside on this, you smear her when you get the chance"
If that disappears, they might have to actually do more than lunch to get a story
They don't seem to have grasped the fact that the LNP lost the last election. They keep reporting on them as through they are the government.
If you didn't know, you'd assume Dutton was in charge.
If you want a school, hospital or more housing only a government can address if motivated
Dyson is a local, who understands that that electorate isn't a monoculture.
• Why are Dyson's policies a better fit for Wannon than Tehan's are?
• Why was Wannon a safe LNP seat in the past?
• How has Wannon changed over the decades?
• Why have major parties neglected Wannon and other regional seats?
This is truly ghastly journalism by the ABC.
With Alex they conveniently ignore he has a small hospitality business, they set out to slyly denigrate him, push the libs cause and Dutton's victimhood.
Instead he deflects and we all know he offers exactly the same agenda Abbott and Morrison imposed on behalf of their masters.
As a Wannon resident, I resent being ridiculed (by the media which I help to fund) & cajouled into voting for the 'medoicre' Blues.
Rant over.
