Administrative stays are common, but context matters: Roberts issued this to prevent the District Court from finding the government in contempt when it inevitably comes out that the Trump admin has made no effort to comply with the order that Garcia be returned to the U.S. by midnight.

If they agree with him, they ignite a war with blue state AGs and their constitutions. But I don’t think they will. @democraticags.bsky.social @maddow.msnbc.com
Whether there’s no further responsibility or not depends on what SCOTUS’s decision on the appeal is.
*Except for the wrongful death suit which would take years.
That is a huge, huge reach on Roberts' part. Furthermore, he reprimanded the DC court for its past decision making. Wow. Petty & vindictive.
Sorry.

It will be up to Congress to decide how far back to go in wiping out Supreme Court precedents.
100% of them were not given the due process to which they were entitled.
The prison is infamous for its brutality.
Chief Justice Roberts: “No rush, no rush. Take your time. Where are they gonna go, amiright? Pass the chicken.”

Roberts is awful, but who's next could be much worse.
Sadly, with every day that goes by I'm thinking more & more that this poor guy is dead and the real reason they want him to stay "in prison" is because if they have to return him they'll have to admit that they can't.
However, as others have said, he is likely already dead. Or 🍊🧀🐡 knows the horrors and won’t survive this man coming back to tell his story.
Roberts should be “accidentally” deported,
Then left to rot wherever he’s transported.
The judge should share the fate of Garcia.
Perhaps some torture in North Korea?
Also John Roberts can go fuck himself w his gavel
Or just facilitating extrajudicial imprisonment in foreign jails?

Even if SCOTUS rules against him, what keeps trump from slow walking the return request?
“Bukele changed cellphones and I don’t have his new number.”
And then the guy gets mysteriously knifed to death in his cell.
And then trump sends bukele another 3 million in bitcoin.
They're just letting the libs run out the plays so they have a road map for the next round.
End of laws in USA.
"Who gave the order??!"
