The idea of Texas A&M knocking Texas out of the playoff in a rivalry game they haven’t played in over a decade gives me a secondhand hater’s high so intense I probably shouldn’t drive right now

Wait, wouldn't you need Texas to win to help with your conference opponent win percentage? Or do you note want the Dawgs in the SECCG? 😂 Perfectly acceptable answer either way.
College rivalry games are amazing like that. It doesn’t have to make sense but the feelings are deep and pure. My day gets a little brighter every time Kansas loses (which sadly isn’t often).
As a Native Texan, I love the rivalry. You know its serious when the lines in their fight song is -
Good bye to Texas University, So long to the Orange and the White. They take is serious in College Station.
Gonna be a Hell of a Midnight Yell
It’s pretty wild. I feel
Like the 12 team playoff lowers the stakes a bit as Texas could lose and still make it in? I dunno. But yeah, this game is getting very very real.
They will for sure be last in line to every other 2 loss SEC team because they are the only one in the group without a win against another in group. It will very much depend on what happens in big 10 and Notre Dame. The big rub will be if it comes down to Texas vs a 3-loss TAMU after losing SEC CG
They'll drop to like 11th or 12th. Which doesn't matter. cause playoff seeds have little to do with rank. 4 go to conf champs, 1 goes to group of 5, so you have 7 spots left. And if UT loses, there will be 5 two loss SEC non champs, 3 B1G non champs, & ND to choose from. UT has the weakest schedule.
Let’s say you’re right and they drop to 12 (unlikely if their two losses are to top 10 teams and unlikely to drop 9 spots). The Big 12 champ passes them as an automatic qualifier. So they’re 13. When a 2 loss SEC team loses the championship, they’re a 3 loss team and likely out.
Look at this bracket. Tennessee is currently first out. And if everything else stays the same, Texas gets dropped for Tennessee. And once the SEC champ loser has 3 losses that opens up A&M
You're missing the point that they have the worst schedule of any SEC team in consideration at this point. They will absolutely drop that far, as the committee has shown us. Look how fat the other teams who have lost dropped. They will be the first team out.
I just love that no matter what, as long as Bama doesn't pull a Bama, they're in the championship game. I'd be stunned beyond belief if those in College Station beat those in Austin, so we basically already know who's playing in the game. I'm not overly optimistic Bama wins that.
the thought of a&m going through 12 years of futility only to immediately win the sec the instant texas joins is really funny to me and i hate both schools
If you would have told me that its been like 3 or 4 years since they last played i'd be like yeah that sounds right, but you're telling me its been 13 years? THIRTEEN? brb, gonna walk into the ocean
Add to that the treason that our former Baseball manager pulled *Less than 24 hours* after losing the College World Series. Would feel *NICE* to take texas down, and back at the much fancier Kyle Field.
Gator fan here who has been half in love with McConaughey for decades. Because I am obligated to loathe the original 11 SEC teams, MizzU is a joke, Stoops wouldn't move to G-ville, and Fisher was at A&M, my new #2 team is Texas. I'm down for an SEC win.
See, you say that now. But you don’t know them. They could get absolutely pantsed in round one & go winless for the next 10 years. They’ll still strut around & act like they own the SEC because they won “in their first year”.
You think they are obnoxious now? You have no idea how bad it will get.
Real Texas fans quietly love the ‘Horns thru thick and thin. That might include defending their honor. Deal. But this feels like a dumb myth people are wiling to believe. All teams have some braying jackass fans. Nothing wrong with us hoping for the ‘Horns’ success after an absolute winless desert.
I mean, I’ve already done my damnedest to cope with that being the likely outcome. Them folks out in College Station know how to Properly Hate when it comes to this game (I lived there in the late ‘90s, I know firsthand), and Sark has no clue how to get these kids here in Austin ready for that.
I think it was ‘95 I asked Tedy Bruschi if beating ASU would make it a good season and he bored a hole through my skull with his eyes and said “Craig if we went 1-10 and beat ASU I’d consider it a good season.” I turned and ran through a brick wall.
Feel free to dive head first into the Aggie deep end of schadenfreude at your own peril. There’s 100 years of history that says you likely end up in a wheel chair.
Yeah it's gonna be bananas. I will always hate OU more (as I attended UT in the early 2000s), but this game is going to be bonkers. It's going to SUCK for whichever side loses.
I don’t think it would knock them out unless A&M won the SEC CG after that. Seems highly unlikely. Winner of that game would be playing Bama, Ole Miss or UGA in the SEC CG. I think? Shits confusing AF lol
Their schedule was so lopsidedly weak af for their first year in the SEC. You won’t get me to disagree at all. I just think their first REAL SEC road game being at College Station, they wouldn’t fall past UGA (it makes zero sense, I know)
Tennessee will have a much stronger resume if they win out
There is no defensible position to place them in front of any other 2 loss SEC team if they lose to TAMU. Their best win is against Vandy? It would take Michigan upsetting tOSU to even give them an oar in the water.
I don't know what would need to happen with tiebreakers, but Texas vs. A&M in the SEC championship, where A&M beats them for the second time to knock Texas out.
But just keep in mind that you're dealing with Aggies. Even saying something like this jinxes them. Don't think anything is going to succeed until after it already has happened, or else it'll never happen. (My in-laws are all Aggies)
Okay so that was exaggeration for the purpose of illustration... U.T. is a behemoth that sucks up all the air in Texas. Everybody who did not go to UT, and even some who did (My JD is from UT, as is my husband's PhD) just enjoys poking the bear - or rather the bull
I'm super biased, I know. I grew up in Austin, was raised in Longhorn culture, and attended for undergrad and law. My husband's PhD is from there, too. I appreciate the serious response to my question. 😁🤘
I went to Rice (Brown '87) (so don't much care about UT), and UT law ('90). But then I married the love of my life - an Aggie from an Aggie family. Texas & burnt orange have no hope in this household. After 15 yrs, he just recently begrudgingly okayed the new cute orange stuff in the guest room lol
That's interesting. My son went to both schools (he also received his JD from UT Law), but absolutely hates A&M. He had the worst time of his life there. He loves Austin and UT.
My super liberal husband is not a particular fan of his alma mater (with all the politics of the day), but he was born in College Station when his dad was an Aggie, and everyone in his family are Aggies. I don't think he'd be physically capable of getting over his programmed hatred for UT lol
That's understandable. I think my son, being from a multi-cultural family, had a hard time adapting to such a school-centric culture. Austin and UT fit his personality better.

Oh, and Manning is still a freshman.
Can anybody explain??
lol
I just hope the gods of football chaos get satisfied elsewhere and tech doesn’t upset us lol.

A&M vs Texas in the ole SWC. 🏈😀🏈

Screwing up the simple act of driving, as you might imagine.
BTW, Roll Tide!!!🙂
You think they are obnoxious now? You have no idea how bad it will get.
... and I ain't mad at it😁
…
As a Buckeye I am with you.
Tennessee will have a much stronger resume if they win out
Aggies suck
And austin is way bluer than college station
