Seems possible, f'r'instance, that this was a replay of trying to find somebody to file the dismissal in the Adams case: "I'll quit before I throw myself on your grenade, deal with it yourself."
You don’t think it’s a conspiracy because you are a critical thinker. I have friends and family who think there’s an evil kabbal anytime two things happen concurrently. Your framing of the events made me feel right at home
Who says they'll appear in court? We could be teeing up for a Carmen Sandiego reboot here as our new nominal doge of DOGE is tracked to various countries by reporters.
Interesting. Looks like she was an advisor to the wh in trump I. Some VC experience too but I don't see anything that overlaps with musk. Curious if she bends the knee or tries to make doge grow up.
She's just the current patsy. We all know the real DOGE administrator (Elon Musk). It's his money and his threats that allow it to operate with Trump's blessing.
As a former 20 year old, "how does this legally affect me" wasn't something I considered until I had a few discussions with older engineers, and i was just working in medical devices at the time!
My first job after the Navy was at an ISP. I learned a TON from the phreakers who were my co-worker (and their friends).
The most important thing I learned is that if you are fucking around, you might find out. (Our Unix lead had been recently released from a federal felony stint.)
(I actually was kind of hoping to get a date out of it, he was attractive in an "I work for the Justice Department" kind of way, his mom lived one town over from me and he was in and out doing a certification course at a local university, but no luck on that account.)
a non-zero number of them are going to be ride or die and will not understand the implications of that until it's too late (spoiler: it's already too late)
These fucks will be sitting in a deposition someday with a lawyer they had to pay for wondering why Elon won't take their calls or answer their messages.
Because Doge isn’t actually new and is just a monster wearing USDS’s skin suit over its face, it means there was a legacy staff and chaos that inured them to consequences. When suddenly these new staffers are the ones being put on the pyre, how long does their loyalty last?
These halfwits make Sam Bankman-Friedman look competent.
Apparently the engineers who resigned were holdovers from the Digital Service, and they know illegal actions when they see them.
The problem for them is they’re almost certainly not actual government employees so they won’t have the same civil immunity protections feds get. So yea, once we know what DOGE IS and who runs it, the civil suits will flow.
Well in some ways that's by design. Musk wants lackeys who are hostile to civil service protections, so why would they get those same protections for themselves?
I still think there’s a non-zero chance Vivek bailed on DOGE because he at least understands the concept of legal consequences and how they might apply to him.
Absolutely. Vivek saw that A) he wasn’t going to be allowed in the drivers seat, and B) he’d also make a great patsy when things go, inevitably, south, he bailed. Vivek is a craven opportunist, but he’s not stupid.
That makes sense to me as it was so abrupt. I think he got an understanding of what Elon was planning and exited asap so none of the stench could stick to him
I don’t know if it’s too late for Vivek though. I do think he wanted to be part of an outside advisory board but dipped out when that changed into actual government org
You'd think but likely be incorrect because my senior manager isn't smart enough to get professional liability insurance for when the agency inevitably decides it's not worth their time and money to defend you.
If you're a junior DOGE person, then I'm so sorry to hear about your mangled and disfigured weenies, I heard that was a requirement to be on the team 🙏
Yeah. If they don't lie and backdate her appointment, this doesn't actually fix their legal troubles, but if they do lie, they have to keep Gleason from testifying...

How about D.A.N.?
If they're not the administrator seems like the administrator should be able to make them stop doing illegal things
can't serve 'em if you can't find 'em

He's pardoned way worse for more.
"wait those weren't the moments Elon carried me?"
"Your proposal is acceptable"
A bunch of these dudes are gonna discover "I was just following orders" does not fly here.
Elon & Trump effectively *own* them.

My kingdom for an edit button.
