As Americans increasingly get their news from online shows, this media ecosystem becomes more influential. A new Media Matters’ study shows how overwhelmingly right-leaning this ecosystem is -- with nearly five times the following of left-leaning online shows. https://www.mediamatters.org/google/right-dominates-online-media-ecosystem-seeping-sports-comedy-and-other-supposedly

Did you make any effort to determine whether these view counts/listener counts are or could be artificially or programmatically inflated? If not, why not?
We know though how the U.S. right has a habit of gaming traffic numbers for things like book sales in order to get on best-seller lists etc.
Seems pretty obvious it would be cheap and easy to juke these stats for online views/listener counts

Do you mean the "left" ones have a lot of qualities that are similar like conspiracy theories, or something else?
But also, I use it to mean that your average tankie and average Trumper don’t really differ on the means they’d use to get what they want. See Cenk Uygur, and his admiration for this.
Is this an internet thing, or a USA thing?
The New Atheism movement, for all its faults, at least gave secular, liberal men an identity to assume and embrace, and outgroup to denounce.
like it's entirely possible 'the left' is less interested in nonsense button pushing slop and just consumes other stuff
I mean, is npr on there? I'm sure they have online pods or w/e
We need to be powered with listenership.
most ppl just come at it from the supply side, but I legit think the demand side is part of it
it’s all just the same group of chuds to me
Dems are so far behind and the cost is huge.
(Someone had it on while I was getting a tattoo)

- Money injected by RW organizations/wealthy individuals?
- RW people like this kind of content more?
- Non RW people prefer other new sources?
- RW driven by grievance politics which is more profitable than factual content?
Just ask Tim Poole, Dave Rubin and Benny Johnson
Cause: A minority of us humans *needs* Hate so much, that they're willing to seek it out, spend hours in it, spend money on it, and share it with anybody they think should hear it.
The rest of us want to live our lives without that drama and histrionics.
1. How many of those viewers are humans rather than some system designed to boost the amount of $$$ one can use to charge for ads
2. The overlap between the different bubbles

Its been like that for decades like when the world knew there were no WMDs in Iraq but Americans were sure 🫡
