Prince's Super Bowl halftime show is the one that I remember the most after watching Super Bowls since 1980. Even the rain could not hinder his performance! I'm so glad that I was able to see it in my lifetime!
Why am I the one jerk who doesn’t like Prince? Like everyone likes Prince. My 80 year old dad has Purple Rain. Obviously Prince is an icon, and by NO means am
I disrespecting Prince. A billion fans can’t be wrong. But besides “When Doves Cry” I can’t find one redeeming song? Are my ears broken?
Two things: trump probably won't even make it to half time. And, Kendrick can code it and maga won't know for a couple days. They certainly won't be paying attention during his performance.
I honestly do believe he'll get political. I'd be more surprised if he didn't.
One of my favorite things about Prince was his all female band.
They were amazing.
Felt like he really wanted to help showcase female musical talent and help them rise.
One of a Kind for sure.
He was a feminist, as well as a brilliant musician and performer.
I was crying watching it that SB performance
it was so amazing.
Got to see Prince at the Louisville Palace a few months before he passed.
Cried then too, like 20 feet away from him lol.
Still in shock He is gone.
Some losses are too sad to think about.
So wish I had been able to see him perform live. back when the movie Purple Rain came out, a friend and I went to see it. It was the only movie I was ever carded to get in the theater.
I've watched this video more than any other live Prince track, and that's saying something.
It's phenomenal, especially that guitar sound and his facial expressions. Oh, and not forgetting Larry Graham's chugging bassline. I mean, the Superbowl performance was great, but I prefer this 💜
I've watched a lot of his live shows and think this may be one of his best. He was a "motherless child" so he put his soul into this one. Making his electric guitar sound like a revving motorcycle was unbelievable. And Larry Graham and those guys doing that spooky march was fantastic. 👍🎸
I wonder if Canada will keep the electricity on in the North Eastern United States during the Superbowl. A temporary flip of the switch would certainly help demonstrate how important and strong the trade relationships are between the two countries. A 'demo' for The Trumpster to better understand?
Agreed! Magic…in a downpour! When the producer called Prince that morning, he asked, “ Do you know that it’s raining?”. Prince answered, “Can you make it rain harder?”.
I kinda figured I'd just leave it alone and reply to that on Sunday night after we collectively pick our jaws off the floor. Hey, maybe he plays it straight... *wink*
Never will be topped. God making it rain during "Purple Rain" cannot be outdone be mere mortals. It would seriously take Whitney, MJ, Prince, Pac and Biggie to come back for one last show to top that moment
Prince was the greatest rock star who ever lived. He's not even my favorite musician, but I concede he was the GOAT. He proved it every time he went on stage, and especially in this performance.
i lived about 5 minutes away from the stadium
i went outside to get some air cause i was having an anxiety attack
the halftime show was on and when i looked up in the air, the night sky was lit purple.
Prince set the standard. Remarkable set. In the rain.
Next would be Bruce - especially when he almost slid into the camera man when he did his sliding on his knees bit.
Not fully a fan of Beyonce - but she did put on a sweet show.
interviews with the crew- had practiced setting up and taking down the stage...all the other stuff for the SB. Impressed that Prince even went on to perform - and not use the back up tape they had in case there were tech problems.
Prince was a genius, amazing performer, and hardworking pro.
Omg the best yet. He always went the extra mile just to prove he was the best. Did you see his ‘While My GuitarGently Weeps’ solo for Geo Harrison’s RRHOF induction? He’d been slighted by Rolling Stone, so he completely owned that song and the stage. Threw his guitar off at the end. Magnifico!
Yes, the GH induction solo is among the best I have heard/seen in my 60 years.
Prince - Should be in every serious review of the top 10-20 guitar players of all time.
This is the softest complaint I've ever heard in my entire life. I can't imagine the level of discomfort that YOU felt to have to use your children to justify something that didn't need any explanation.
No it won't. That remains the single greatest halftime show in superbowl history. It even beat U2's stirring post 9-11 performance. And Prince did it with such swagger and style.
I love this behind the scenes look at how the show came together, including the day of when the rain started and they told him nervously it was raining, and he said, "can you make it rain harder?" #Prince #musicSky
Of all the half time shows that have ever happened, vanishingly few have featured rap. There have literally been more shows that featured Mickey Mouse than rap.
Yeah the legends were still alive. Not that I'm not a fan i just like to see them keeping you know.. instruments. Alive.
If the industry is taken over by back tracks, there goes the jobs.
Kendrick sometimes does perform with actual instruments, like when he did King Kunta on the Late Show. It's too early to say yet what his performance is going to be like, but it's the first time that I as a non American have ever been excited for the Super Bowl

The professional poise and playing in the rain. And not missing a beat.
He’s a once in many generations talent.
Still get shivers.
The legend!
Now the myth!
People of tomorrow will never believe how many instruments he played
People of tmrw will never get to experience how creative he was
His music has lessons 2 be learned from for decades
We love prince!
I'll purify myself in the waters of lake minatonka! Lol!

Don't hate, y'all!!

Not all great art belongs in front of young kids.
"What's the shadow?"
"It looks cool, doesn't it!"
Bad parenting and blaming others lol
You’re muted.
You must have permanent indents on your hands from how often you clutch your pearls lol.
