You have to be richer than almost everyone in the country to ever pay inheritance tax. Even if you own a farm.
And if you do own a farm, and are rich enough to pay inheritance tax on it, you still get a massive discount.
Why are we giving this protest airtime?

Don't get me wrong some farmers are struggling but they probably won't have to pay the tax anyway.
We have a media ecosystem run by and for the rich and powerful.
How many working class people have you seen thrive in our media lately vs kids of CEOs and barons?
We need a total system reset.
The fact that people are furious about this is just insane.
They also have plenty of sheep to follow which I suppose is appropriate under the circumstances.
Really it is the farmers ‘champion’ like Clarkson, and people like Dyson, they have caused this mess by dodging IHT and inflating cost of farm land.
Personally, I think my parents being able to leave £1m between them before my brother & I pay a penny tax is plenty. One might even say generous!
but, as usual, the richest are the noisiest
- breaking the picket lines during the miner's strike to line their own pockets,
- playing their part in fuel blockades,
- being outraged about paying IHT, even at a reduced rate.
Also, do you believe it is sustainable for so many businesses apparently vital for our food security to be continuously running at such a deficit?
If people are so concerned about our domestic food security I would have expected them to have been screaming about this for years, as they have been about the IHT for the last couple of weeks.
I presume you have been, right?
