23.40 for an art program that sounds really good according to everyone else.
Sure why the hell not.
I bought it and I’ll see if it’s any good
I'm both excited and terrified for the new features
and yet, I didn't get used to it, UI and functions are hard to adapt for me
Also no one really uses all the features available on their preferred art program, and Krita is very feature rich already
And one of the biggest strenghts are how it's a free and open source project so it's safe from the hands of enshittification and corporate greed
i have had Clipstudio since 2019 :D
this is exactly what ive been looking for! now...creativity time!
anyone smarter than me can provide comaprassioms between this and Krita, the program i use? i woudl be interested on expanding my skills tbh so im not always stuck on the same art program
A) is there anything worth upgrading for?
B) are they still doing the 'you have to be online every Xth day to access the software'?
I'm worried about upgrading then that losing access if Celsys goes bankcrupt
Look at the feature list and see if in interests. I liked the new brush engine in 2.0 and am excited for some of the 3d stuff and the new transform tool in 4.0. Might replace sub painter.
idk what they're cooking either but i seem to have more features they mentioned in v4 in particular
i got confused because it updated my csp the program and i took it as it also updated the license. mb
Is upgrading to ver 4 worth it?
Would rather spend the (~$32 for me) than $72 for the same year's worth of updates until 5.0 :0
https://youtu.be/nBujAXvVH3k?si=F-q00lxG7ZlPfQyq can't remember if I used this but it seems to go over a LOT of tools
(You might want to try searching for whatever version you're planning to get tho!)
I already have it but my teen will need a copy when his free trial runs out. I LOVE their sales. So easy to upgrade. I've spent less on this in 10 years than I dropped on my monthly internet bill.
get CSP if you do not have it. do not engage further with celsys
I digitally finish my traditionally-drawn comic pages with digital panel outlines, text bubbles, and thoughts/dialogue. You know, really basic stuff. Would I need the Ex version of CSP or could Pro do that stuff too??
But also, thanks :D
I wish Apple had perpetual licenses for their devices, but it is worth even with a sub.
I think it finally overtook Procreate at this point for me as they caught up for the features I regularly use
How long does this sale last?
Just gonna wait until payday before I decide to buy. $50 isn’t much, but I’ve made some big purchases lately.
This is just an easier and way better fix. A new updated one for an amazing price! Thanks for the share!!!
I mean still better then the 154€ price to just buy the ver 4 licence but DAMN.... (yes EX user here 😭😭😭😭😭)
This just feels icky.
I don't have to do anything, but I can point out the dumbnes
How about CMYK support and better text rendering, tho?
Yes, that choice seems pretty easy.
I think this is the first version where I can't spot any feature that's worth an upgrade... but for $17 maybe I'll get it just in case.
But, like, GO TO THEIR WEBSITE. All answers there.
Did I miss something?
I am absolutely a CSP lover here, now I am just wondering what the improvements are.

SOOOO imma definitely be grabbing this. Thanks for the link!
Ive been (quite happily) sitting with ver. 1.8 for a long time now so
This will be quite the upgrade! Looking forward to the new toys and widgets and things!
object snap!
Also..... *as a GIMP user*, GIMP is ass at most things. Theres not much it can do that firealpaca or krita cant do better, and it hasnt seen any real improvements in the 10 years ive used it. it doesnt even detect my tablet. it sees it as a mouse
what does clip studio 4 have that something like krita doesn't?
Krita's comic focused tools are so lacking. CSP has tons of comic-focused tools.
Can I upgrade from version 2 to version 4 without purchasing version 3?
QUE ODIO
mas mto obgda por me marcar muah t amo!!! 🫶🫶🫶
but im not the most regular user of the program so i could be wrong about that.
I recently bought it and i was waiting on the V4 update since they let me get it for free.
I've been switching over since ArtRage has migrated to only distributing through app stores, preventing people from being able to install & use with WINE.
I think i have EX version 2.... I might update it then
It's about $100 USD to get Version 4 for me, which is a major rip-off. Thankfully piracy is free
(I have 3 EX and I'm considering if it's worth the upgrade or if I should skip a cycle)
https://www.clipstudio.net/en/purchase/?Upgrades
Since I have EX Version, I have to buy the update to Version 3, and then the one for Version 4.
the krita documentation manual technically answers everything, but it can be hard to find a solution if you don't know the correct terms. 😵💫
https://krita-artists.org/
that's a forum, where you can ask specific questions, showcase your art, get brush bundles, etc
Seems they’ve moved away from username / password log-in to confirm, and system doesn’t appear to recognize my credentials :S
I’ll figure something out
I honestly have 0 clue whats even the difference.
(I mostly use krita anyway bought 2 cuz it was like $15.99 and planning on changing to csp soon maybe)
You can't upgrade directly from 2 to 4 to my knowledge though. You'd have to buy a new license, or upgrade to 3, then to 4 (which would cost about $96, around $60 cheaper than buying a new license).
Even if it did, $20 for a good professional piece of software from a small company isn't exactly unreasonable.
Plus, cracks are easy if it came down to it.
I still have my first Photoshop 4.0 and his license is still valid 20 years later.
Imagine if everyone who had just bought a license had donated instead.
And, no offense, but Krita isn't anywhere close to being as good. $20 for a good piece of professional software isn't the heinous crime the rest of the industry is.
I agree, from when I hear Clip is great and by all means use it if that suits your needs.
Krita could fill in a lot of the gaps that people use Clip for if they had a more steady revenue stream.
Thank you @krita.org for the awesome work on this program!
I own several software licenses from 20 years ago that still work and will work forever from companies that don't exist anymore.
Tryna save sew
Regardless, my wallet is empty
But I might get this just because it would be nice to have if and when I need it.
goodbye forever, subscription!
Which is not bad, considering I have another computer I'll have V2 installed for backup, then. And the price is really cheap...
Don't be like me and get the new version with a better price now!
