isn't that part of the thing you churn butter with? like you plunge it up and down in a bunch of cream to agitate it and it becomes butter somehow or something
is it still in use in modern times? I've never seen the inside of a butter churner, so I don't know what's at the end of a butter churner stick, but... maybe that?
It looks like if you dunked it in batter and then dunked it in hot oil you'd get a very cool pastry case, but I think those are usually metal. And I don't know the names of those in any language.
