Everyone reading this page must play a role in stopping the madness. Today I want to focus on some hard work with family/friends. We all have people we love who voted for Trump. Many have been sucked in by lies and misinformation. I know it feels hopeless, but we need you to talk to them.
Long 🧵.

Asking for a friend of course….
My mom is MAGA. She's pretty much delusional, and I'm her scapegoat. When I speak, she automatically makes herself a victim. So I'm not the one to take her on
Being the scapegoat of the family means you're the bad guy ALWAYS! They don't trust my "lunatic liberal" ways.
I'm had you have ppl in your life who see your worth and understand the difficult situation this admin is putting you in.
The risk as a federal employee is one some are hearing (that really care about me). They think the treatment of us is unfair, which I appreciate.
I still try to correct mis/disinformation on the internet. My liberal friends think I'm crazy but evil prospers when good people do nothing
I am seeing some shifts. While I have the energy, continuing to engage has had value. I take breaks when needed and surround myself with good friends and family who are supportive to maintain resilience.
Put your feet on the ground or in a natural water course.
Sense your pulse until you can feel it throughout your body.

What works to get their attention?
I'm rooting for you both.

Here are some tools for reaching middle-ground Americans who supported Trump- the goal here is to talk about what is important to THEM.

Economy:
-93% of his supporters said it was very important to their vote.
Report card:
-A March poll found that 57% of Americans think Trump’s economic policy has been too erratic.

-Tariffs have created a global trade war and are leading to higher prices.
Driven primarily by a 10.4% increase in the index for eggs, the index for meats, poultry, fish, and eggs rose 1.6% in February. The beef index rose 2.4%.
Bottom Line: the economy is NOT doing better.
-Fewer people are being arrested: Border Patrol arrested 8,300 at the southern border in Feb, the lowest monthly level on record.
-The Pentagon announced plans to deploy 10,000 troops at the border at a significant cost to taxpayers.
-Initial figures suggest lower deportation rates than existed during the last year of the Biden’s term.
Bottom line: fewer people seem to be crossing the border, but it may not be due to Trump.

Am I the person at fault in your eyes because I wasn't able to get through to my parents after all these years?
Honestly, if I can get Trump folks to see he is wrong on just one issue is consider it progress; I have had small wins lately. Selling cars at the White House or removing reference to women at Arlington, for example…
