People said this after 2016. Look I think Trump is extremely extremely bad, but at a certain point this kind of thing is just loser shit that isn't helping anyone.
I forget why he said his first term didn't count. Clinton's cheating or something? So expect that to come back pretty quickly.
But that only matters as long as they need to pay lip-service to that "rule"
“We need to go back to talking about kitchen table issues”
The reason people were talking about political theory at the end of the campaign was that when you put an authoritarian in office they will never willingly leave
There will be an election in 2028 I think; you’re right that it won’t be fair but the question is whether the US will be Hungary (almost impossible for opposition to win) or Poland (possible for opposition to win)
On the bright side, Orban’s formula includes changing the constitution and electoral system; Trump won’t be able to do that. On the dark side, Poles are more stubborn and tough than Americans; not sure the US could manage a Konstitucija movement at this point
At this point what's to stop them from calling a Constitutional Convention though? Without fair elections they'll soon easily have state and national support.
My understanding is that the people who live in the urban areas have a pretty good life, but the people who live in the rural areas are very poor. But, agreed we should have free college education. I’d prefer not to be subjected to either of them.
They’ll say it’s up to Congress not to certify. Congress won’t step up if he wins. Everyone will shrug because we blew past Anderson without a cry, and I’m sure we’ll have a couple other constitutional crises behind us by 2028.
That's not complying; there are millions of people who are going to sit down and say 'eh it'll be bad for everyone and then everyone will vote them out'. Then insert surprised pikachu face if there are no fair elections, while they did nothing with the time they could have.
Even if there were, the project of wrecking the country, stripping it for parts, and undermining trust in government and each other would only benefit republicans at the ballot booth
We need to talk about this constantly and freak the fuck out about every change or even suggested change (federal, state, local) that undermines the competitiveness of elections.
(TBF, there should be a general strike right now until electoral college & current Senate is eliminated, but …)
I was afraid until I saw that he somehow won the popular vote. This means 4 things, but two are important here: ballot box legitimacy AND the ‘good’ conservative are myths. The maga cult/their enablers are TERRIFIED of how truly outnumbered they are by the sane and the (currently) indifferent.
I’m not here to tell anyone that the next 4 years are going to be good. They’re absolutely going to be horrible, they just are, but he can’t actually suspend the constitution or stop mid-terms from happening, and he’s a tremendous fuck up.
Yeah, but who is in and who is out can change, and also once Trump pere's health really collapses, it won't really be up to him anymore. If people want a hereditary succession, her brothers all appear to be completely charismaless dipshits. She is kind of the only choice.
And, sure, King Charles over in England is also a charismaless dipshit, but there they are just continuing a monarchical line that goes back to the Glorious Revolution. Creating a new monarchy is a different matter entirely and requires some measure of actual ability.
Word. I don’t have anything to go on. She hasn’t posted about the election at all. It’s weird. She’s a clown. Let’s just hope someone sells don junior some fentanyl mixed coke
I find it hard to imagine why anyone would think hereditary succession is ever a good idea, but most people throughout history seem to have kept going back to it as the default.
Yeah it was hurting her fashion grift. When he passes there will be a fun power vacuum with his family and the tech bros they have allied with lead by their puppet Vance.

Why can't we get the free healthcare, free university, low cost of living, comprehensive public transit Russia?
I understand your point. It's not lost on me that cheating and abuse of power win most of the time.
We once were a scrappy, ill-fed, raggedy bunch who decided that we didn't like tea. I still don't like tea.

Me: * instant slap *
Them: I was just...
Me: Shhh. No.
