and also, there's no way that "shaking things up" in a far right administration like Trump's is going to lead to good outcomes. It will almost certainly lead to disaster and/or vast increases in morbidity and mortality.
I’d prefer change without the death and disability of babies, the bankruptcy of marginalized people and families, and the exacerbation of chronic diseases, personally, but hey that’s just me.
He has tiny kiddo(s?) .. wait until he’s in the school system. With no kids vaxxed sick kids encouraged to attend and severe teacher absenteeism. Want that to get worse. Ok. Sure.
True. Jhas schools have the best air quality in the nation. And I’m guessing here but perhaps same issues exist. Money doesn’t shield stupidity from repeated COVID infections and their wake. Be safe friend.
Hitting rock bottom is usually about an individual's capacity and willingness to change (see AA). An individual, at least in the spiritual sense, has free will. When we're talking about the well-being of a society, "detaching with love" has disastrous ethical and moral consequences.
It definitely works for some people. And it's valid to be suspicious of it because the premise has limited value outside of a certain framework. The "rockbottom" approach to dealing with societal issues is morally wrong.
I think the major concern is there is no interim option and given many people depend on the current system quite literally for their lives, rock bottom is essentially casting away the most vulnerable.
There’s nothing worse than humans who view political outcomes as a video game so much so that they believe it’s normal to sacrifice decades of people’s existence and lives for the perception that you’ll get to your final destination by the time your end is near.
I suspect that he feels that giving these fools enough rope will allow them to hang themselves. Unfortunately, they will also hang many who didn’t vote for them.
we had post-soviet state outcomes from covid and no one in DC cared enough to do a postmortem and no politicians were punished for it, if anything the opposite. idk if there is a bottom
The same garbage as all the 'creative disruption' of public institutions sold by tech for a decade.
If it follows the model, we'll next see "access" to good healthcare instead of guaranteed reasonably decent medical care for all, and a concept of "equity" as equally crap instead of equally good.
I dunno - I think what he’s saying is it’s time for the link heads to experience the “FIND OUT” part of the issue. Unfortunately it’s gonna happen whether we like it or not. Dems have twisted themselves in so many knots the moral compass is broken (see Israel)
Funny thing for him to say that health in the US will get worse under a normal admin, when the Biden admin made noticeable progress in areas like opioid overdoses and homicides.
Mind blowing how he just casually drops “bad for some things…like trust in vaccines” as if that isn’t a horrific development that will lead to real deaths
He must know the reason we are below our peer nations is a lack of universal and affordable healthcare. None of these dangerous ppl are proposing anything like that. What they are proposing is nonsense that could cost many lives. I guess I'm clinging on to not hitting rock bottom in PH.
Without denying that there are serious problems with our health care system--the main reasons for America's "slow decline below all our peer nations" are well upstream from the delivery of health care.
Yup. But that is not all. It’s also lust for power. These people know that they will never get into power normally, being as toxic and incompetent as they are. But if everything collapses… well they might stand a chance…
The claim that *positive* change will be brought to us by Trump and the gang of grifters riding on his tail is so delusional as to be presumptively bad faith.
Professor Clinton at Columbia's Mailman pointed out in a lecture that the big problem with accelerationism is that it hurts a lot of the people at the bottom who are least equipped to weather the destruction.
Maybe obvious in retrospect, but worth thinking about.
The new healthcare plan is to take any regulations off healthcare and pharmaceuticals and for people to all buy private insurance. The idea is that free market competition will fix everything.
Oh, that's disappointing to see, i did enjoy his thoughts in 20. But this is a little like some in 2016 talking about how this is how we are going to get M4A. I don't think anyone has any clues or imagination about what the bottom looks like. It can always get worse.
Overt action to degrade Public Health shouldn't be anyone's intent. However, a lack of urgency in the current admin for Project NextGen, and inaction by CDC/USDA/FDA to contain H5N1 is alarming. Compound with incoming admin's anti-vax/anti-NPI and food safety, just how can US avoid a death spiral?
"We can't rule out that something good might someday happen after several million people die unnecessarily; I am very smart and definitely understand harm reduction."
I keep seeing parallels with the dawning shitstorm you guys are living through and the Brexit one we've endured had in Britain. This "underpants gnomes" thinking-
1) make things even worse
2) ???
3) things are better
I remember being told by a Brexity healthcare worker
(i.e. a pro-thanksgiving turkey),
in a mealy-mouthed way,
that he """valued""" the contribution of foreign workers in the NHS- but wanted Brexit, in order to create a recruitment crisis that forced more British healthcare workers to be trained
... That was years ago now. Looking back, it went as was predicted to him at the time: He got the guaranteed damage he had voted for... but, oddly enough, it was not followed by the fuzzy bit - of things then somehow being better. The NHS is comprehensively on its arse and he has to work harder
Interesting, thanks.
But if the account here is him (also unclear as no verification appears to have been attempted), he hasn’t posted here in 3 days. So doesn’t prove anything one way or the other.
Ya, sometime around when he heavily started into rapid testing, something got lost. Since then, the random times I hit his page now have become more "wtf, dude?".
I mean, that doesn’t actually answer my question unless that time was before Elon wrecked Twitter. We need to stop uncritically accepting “news” from Twitter as true. He may well be a crank but a screenshot of a tweet from a verified account doesn’t mean anything.

We do, in fact, have quite a bit to lose.
Just utter pretension & privilege

The policies that RFK Jr/Dr Oz/Jay B & the other health agency Muskmuppets wish to pursue are very likely to *worsen* this gap

strong work

...Was a popular logic failure over here, too
