SCOOP: Elon Musk's DOGE team is automating tasks as it continues its purge of the federal workforce, WIRED has learned. How? By deploying a new custom chatbot to 1,500 federal workers.

DOGE isn’t just automating tasks, it’s shifting decision-making. AI isn’t replacing inefficiency, it’s replacing oversight. Federal agencies are rolling out AI governance with little debate. The real question isn’t whether AI will run government, but who is programming the decisions?
Might be useful. Might be. Who verified security? Who authorized? Can all compliance regulations be enforced? They are bound to stumble into something good, but that doesn’t mean they had the authority or all the components covered.
Is DOGE actually in control of the AI, or is the AI manipulating DOGE. If it was constructed badly by Musk's minions with all their alt right biases, couldn't it be a malevolent AI. Seems like a really bad way to conduct that experiment.
Like most AI chatbots, it’s a glorified pdf searcher that is incapable of handling nuance. Sounds perfect for a government that intends to neglect the needs of its people.
We can’t forget that Trump is responsible for this. Trump set this up, so Elon would take the hit. Trump’s name has to be mentioned every time this happens not only Elon. They have to be mentioned together.
So I can use the chat ai to create emails, talking points, etc but I can’t input anything about my actual job because that’s not public info? How would this help anyone do their job?
And I’ve been stuck on the AI go-to example is always always “write emails”. Why is everyone having such a hard time writing emails? If it’s that difficult, your email may be trying to be a meeting. I’ve written maybe a couple challenging emails and both were CYA/paper trail emails up the mgt chain
This is the classic oversell of "AI is awesome!" .. only to find out it is just a better auto-complete. This only works because people don't know better. The danger is when people rely on it to justify bad decisions. We need to help educate the general population.
GSAi is meant to support “general” tasks, similar to commercial tools like ChatGPT. It is tailored in a way that makes it safe for government use, a GSA worker tells WIRED. Others aren't so sure.
“What is the larger strategy here? Is it giving everyone AI and then that legitimizes more layoffs?”
IMO, he’s gathering data by going through all of these systems, feeding them into his AI, Grok, and he wants to replace a majority of workers with AI. One problem is the power from data centers-it will require enormous amounts of power and centers will be needed. But where and at what environ. cost?
Artificial intelligence can hallucinate. It's the qualifier on the product. But do go on and implement it in our US government that does important things.
Ai customer service and those automated voice chats are sh$t. A total frustrating waste of time. If I call, it's because my problem needs a human being to solve it.
I have yet to come across a model that would be worthy of replacing people in jobs. Helper tool? Yes. Sounding board assistant? Certainly. But you have yo know when the hallucinations come and they will.
And it recommends removing every paragraph or photo using the words "gay," or "equitable," or "minority," etc. At Defense, AI just removed all references to the airplane Enola Gay that dropped the atomic bomb. Why? Because of that DEI word, even tho it has NOTHING to do with DEI.
AI is based on algorithms but they try to make it seem like it is actually “intelligent”.
Having noticed the algorithms that the muskrats have been using are absolute failures, one who be insane to trust our country to “AI” as replacements of actual humans.
Elon will use AI to automate the raising of his 14 kids while he continues to hoard everyone's money until he's finally dead. What a pig of a human being. #ElonMusk
& given recent ability to turn off starlinks, turn off maxxar data, it is an enormous risk to place vast software, ai, tech infrastructure in the hands of a single entity. (Who recently shouldered out Verizon & replaced his own contract with Starlink).
Leon can not operate any of his companies without government aid. Look here training his new bot using more of our resources and money and time while he will take any profits for himself
Are these kids confusing chatbot with generative AI? And thinking generative AI summaries can replace people? They never cease to amaze me, and not in a good way.
Conceptually it sounds reasonable but just shows a lack of understanding of what we do. Our work is so specialized there is no central knowledge repository, each question & answer is so specialized to our work sometimes my own supervisor doesn’t know. Sometimes I’m not even allowed to ask her.
Hey make sure to let these tech boys know that many many many seniors and Medicare ppl want to talk to real ppl not bots - many of them don’t do well with tech - or chat bots.
No chance it won’t hallucinate and just start making shit up that seems statistically* plausible**. Stuff that would seem sane to Elon while he’s blasted on ketamine.

Elon Musk isn’t just Trump’s biggest donor—he’s his biggest problem. Behind closed doors, Musk is clashing with Trump’s cabinet, making enemies, and testing his power. Could he blow up the GOP from the inside? Read now.

I could name three such systems off the top of my head, and with <30 mins work could find three more.

- so no need to treat them with dignity and respect.
I am assuming that this proprietary product replacing the prior us owned by Musk?
At what cost?

Musk specifically with his desire for power
"Do not type or paste federal nonpublic information"
I'm sure nobody by mistake will paste nonpublic or classified info into private prompt
