Hundreds of copies of newspapers in a Colorado town were stolen a day after the paper published a story about an alleged rape at the police chief’s house

It's actually the third or fourth time I've heard of something like this being done. Most recently it was with a free Alt-Weekly somewhere, and the judge, when the guy who did it went on trial, did not buy the defense of "Well, they're free, so I didn't really steal anything of value"

Thursday: Search records indicate uptick in searches for Barbara Streisand at Police HQ.
The whole thing is being investigated by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation as the police chief is involved *and* the DA is a former cop who used to work under the police chief. (And by "the whole thing" I mean the rapes and the newspaper thefts.)
Again, you never hear songs about hating the fire department or doctors for a fucking reason. Those pigs should be immediately fired and then booted out of town.
This is a , "doesn't surprise me one bit" story. Their behaviours are more out in the open now than ever. If it's not fake news they steel the freakin paper. Makes me wonder what they are posting on the towns FB page. We need to make corruption and lying a bad thing again.😒
I don't want to engage in phrenology, but the three accused rapists certainly look like the kind of assholes who'd rape a drunk girl at a late-night party.
Willing to bet the thief was in the police blotter for totally unrelated issue. This happened to us once at the Lake Placid News- someone got a DUI and went and got as many of the papers as he could. But he paid for all the copies and we just printed another 500 copies lol
I read the article and holy shit. One of the dudes story is…ugh…yeah.
“He also initially told investigators that Dieffenderffer was the one who went in the bathroom with the girl. He later admitted he had sex with her in the bathroom, too, but only briefly.”
Ummm…. Steal every paper? Just think of the planning to steal the newspapers, store them and then keep it all a secret. But then that leads to questions. Who would have the motivation to invest all that time? And have these thought about what to do next? That’s where it gets weird.

OHHH! "I'd Rather be Blue Over You?" It's that one, isn't it?
If you spent a second looking you'd see that this particular article is free to read: https://www.ouraynews.com/2024/01/17/girl-rapes-occurred-chiefs-house/
Newspaper: phew
Police Spokesman: oh, not the way you're thinking.
Over and over and over.

Respect.
No better way to draw attention to the case than stealing the newspapers with the story. Logic.
“He also initially told investigators that Dieffenderffer was the one who went in the bathroom with the girl. He later admitted he had sex with her in the bathroom, too, but only briefly.”
Well, if it was just a BRIEF rape…
That is not the save you think it is, my dude.
If he was smart enough to be a better crook he’d be a property developer.
