WOOF what a message. I think Virginia DMV must have gotten access to Chatgpt and asked it "design the worst pedestrian safety campaign" showed leadership and they were like "perfect, hilarious, No notes, ship it."
My thought: Well, they could have picked a more interesting species of duck, although I suppose Mallards are the most ubiquitous in urban/suburban settings.
My soul leaves my body just a bit every time one of those buses passes me with exactly 9 inches of room while I'm riding my bike right in the door zone labelled 'bike lane'
Maybe I needed to be a duck
When you have to appease the same people who paid real taxpayer money for this plus others that perpetuate similar messages in other regional counties, the urban jurisdictions that push progressive messaging approaches lose out. COG is unfortunately increasingly irrelevant in the safety sphere.
Once watched a family of ducks, around half a dozen ducklings, crossing the road in Rhu, Scotland, families with kids enjoying the scene. Matey swerved to hit the ducks, obliterated them. Some drivists are just awful people

I suspect that this is in North America, where things are worse for pedestrians than elsewhere.
As I always say to people here in the UK: However bad it is for walking/cycling here, it's worse in North America and NZ/Oz.
Maybe I needed to be a duck
(The Street Smart COG campaign is almost a decade of failures. What an absolute waste of money.)

Truly twisted safety message
@bigfootrotica.bsky.social, probably
The bus stops because they are professionals and Maryland drivers don’t but at least I bounce off easier now.
Stop trying to have an imagination. Just copy Australian road safety ads from the Transport Accident Commission.
Better than a plastic bag or a Big Mac.
