Only those who have lived under a dictatorship can truly understand the profound joy of freedom that the Syrian people are experiencing right now. While the future of Syria remains uncertain, the world must offer the Syrian people both moral support and empathy as they navigate this new chapter.
Isn’t it ironic to see all of these fascist ruled countries dethroning their leaders and going full democracy, yet here in the United States we’re doing the opposite. We’ve chosen the worst fascist piece of shit on the planet to rule us. Just how retarded have we become?
"HTS controls much of northwest Syria ... In recent years, HTS leader Abu Mohammed al-Golani has sought to remake the group’s image, cutting ties with al-Qaida, ditching hard-line officials and vowing to embrace pluralism and religious tolerance." Do you think this could be true? Or?
So they keep saying. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. They're insistent about a pluralist Syria. Including about women's right and Christians'.
*Anything* is better than Assad and russia. It's been that bad, although everyone conveniently looks the other way.
Weren’t the Kurds that dump abandoned n the north? Their women are fighters wearing fatigues. They know how to fight guerrilla warfare. It’s pretty sure, if that’s where this guy is, he wouldn’t that faction on his side. Just a thought.
Have you, or anyone, seen any video out of Tartus or other Russian bases in Syria? Wondering how quickly the Russians left, and if they all made it out.
The US has several bases in Syria, mostly to contain Isis. The rebels are Al Quada and Isis. Our troops need reinforcement or they may come under attack.
“President Bashar Assad had left the country for an undisclosed location, fleeing ahead of insurgents who said they had entered Damascus following the remarkably swift advance across the country.”
Good plan.
There will be a power vacuum at the top of government and probably many groups looking to take power. How do they do that and what direction will their freed country take?
Wow, the fall of the Assad regime marks the end of an era for Syria. After 50 years of oppression, this could be a turning point. Here’s hoping it leads to real change and a brighter future for the Syrian people.
Unfortunately, that’s often the case, one oppressive regime gets replaced by another. It’s heartbreaking to see people stuck in this cycle, but let’s hope this time is different. Everyone deserves true freedom and representation.
trump is saying Biden's policy is working. Russia is weak because of support for the Ukraine in their war, and economy is bad because of sanctions!! Of course once he's in office he will reverse those things so his mentor "Vladimir" (notice he calls him by his first name) can be powerful again.
Thank you Israel. As though breaking the back of Hezbollah in Lebanon and Syria for the past 2 months had nothing to do with the exquisite coincidental rebellion. This is about an Iran-Russia axis that extends from the Ukraine war to October 7th meant to divert US resources and attention.
I always found it fascinating how so many articles and posts about this topic say “appears to have”. Because the Iron Heel tend to own so much media and operate so many disinformation farms that it was ultimately tough to tell what was real.
Awesome for the people of Syria to be rid of Assad. May the people of Ukraine also regain their freedom from the tyranny of Trump's buddy Putin. Slava Ukraiani.
Does anyone have a reliable article that discusses how this happened so fast and so surprisingly after their civil war had been going on for so long or is the jury still out on that?
The rebels took Damascus is HTS, a Islamic organization formally tied with Al-Qaeda. This might be another victory of the radical Islamics. Hopefully they don’t plan to rule the new Syria under Islamic Law, and change it into another Afghanistan ……
But at least we (US) did not support/prop up their dictator for decades. Luckily they got rid of Assad before Tulsi got the chance to do it for a minute
In regard to your hopes about the type of government that is set up is kinda moot. The people of Syria have every right as a sovereign nation to support the type of government they see fit. Only if that government does not support terrorism of any kind. Other than that Syria can self determine.
They have denounced violence and revenge apparently and cut ties with Al q and is

Hope the Republicans are watching Syria ... Georgia ... Russia .. Poland ... etc.. Especially Kevin Roberts, president of the Heritage Foundation, who stated there will be "no bloodshed" if the Democrats don't fight against Project 2025. Get your boxes gloves on peeps.
What a surprise Assad’s regime has fallen without a fight.
Did any of our intelligence agencies see this coming? Or considered it possible? Gives me hope Putin can fall, considering all the death and poverty he has brought to Russia. Georgia too, since they stole an election.
Assad down. Iran makes “dramatic leap” toward nukes. Cue Mossad and Israeli Air Force.
Whatever is about to happen, please let it be over before inauguration.
Between Iranian plans to support a proxy invasion on the Golden Heights to the Al-Qaeda linked groups in the Syrian rebel coalition, who knows what's next. The goal should be to keep the Jihadists fighting one another.
Yes, sadly for the Syrian people, it is likely just a new and different form of misery ahead. I seriously doubt there are a lot of progressive thinkers in that revolutionary mob. Chances are the various factions that made up this liberation army now will fight each other.
“John Bolton rightly implies that when rebels capture Damascus, publicizing the Assad regime's files, Tulsi Gabbard will likely to be shown on payroll”
Syria was so so far off my radar. Pleasantly surprised. Hope Syrians are able to form a govt to most of their country's liking without further bloodshed ♥️
That can never be condoned and rightly so but what happens next is just as important, the usual culprits cutting their deals and leaving the people with breadcrumbs like Iraq etc isn't right either
Will have to see what comes next. Hopefully, the years to come will be better than that of the Assad family, where sectarian violence was their modus operandi!
Trump decided to abandon our Kurdish allies in Syria in 2019 seemingly overnight; it seemed at the time his decision immediately followed a call with Erdogan. Always struck me as it was for his own interest in Trump Tower Turkey. Regardless, it was yet another RED flag.
Unfortunately, half of American voters never pay any attention to actual news. It’s shameful with all the information out there that shows how corrupt he is. Sickening. 😔
They’re too busy consuming junk food, junk info, being racist and hateful to pay attention to such trivial matters! Those who know nothing, believe anything.
Well to be fair, they have to keep up with Hunter Biden and trans bathroom bans. Doesn’t leave much time for frivolous news like a cadre of billionaire maniacs trying to take over the world.
While this is momentarily joyous--the thing to remember is that it's very easy to pull down the statue--it is very difficult to govern. The rebels aren't united and there is now a HUGE power vaccum. I hope for the best, but I'm not expecting it. I hope I'm proven wrong.
“Two Syrian sources said there was a very high probability that Assad may have been killed in a plane crash as it was a mystery why the plane took a surprise U turn and disappeared off the map according to data from the Flightradar website. 1/
“It disappeared off the radar, possibly the transponder was switched off, but I believe the bigger probability is that the aircraft was taken down...," said one Syrian source without elaborating.
Russia has lost its most strategic overseas naval and air base on the coast of Syria...a disaster for the Russian Imperial Empire and Putin's Expansionist Dream...
Seeing rebels looting presidential palace in Damascus reminded me of 12/31/58 when Batista fled Cuba. Then too there was looting, military weapons fired into the air, people giddy with joy that the tyrant at last was gone only to be replaced by a more tyrannical regime. Pray for Syria.

Nicolai Ceausescu and his wife huddled in a jail cell awaiting execution, in December 1989.
Democracies can be taken over by dictators.
Dictators can be taken over by rebels.
Dictators can also be quashed democratically as long as regimes still have fair elections.
Where will America now move in all this? 🇺🇸 🧐🤔
non military means before January inauguration.
Untethered power does NOT last.
And all the money in the world won't insulate you from the people that you stole it from.
