I’m confused. Any acknowledgment of nuance should be seen as undermining the purity of the argument in favour of a policy? Personally I feel more wary of anyone claiming a policy to be 100 percent positive or equally 100 per cent harmful.

I just read the article itself. His full comments seem thoughtful + nuanced, concerned mostly with unequal health outcomes. It’s a defence of effective EDI policies, not a pile-on, let alone amplifying the far right as Mr Maugham has rather abruptly leapt to. Is that really worth a ‘fuck this guy’?

I've only seen this article. Maybe he made a huge deal of the tweet, or maybe the headline made a huge deal of his mentioning it.
I've got a pretty good sense from all that's quoted what his position is, though, and it looks like he's prepared to engage to make the case and persuade sceptics.

I have read it and he makes good points until then but as Maugham says, in the current way of things, imo it's a mistake to amplify voices like that in public meetings. In his position, he can tackle that issue as part of his job. This is, of course, just my opinion.

Zoe, I can assure you I completely understood who you were referring to the first time. Try having undiagnosed & therefore untreated ADHD & RLS/PLM, both neurological conditions for 50 years. I've worn that t-shirt. There are 2.3 million (no really there are) undiagnoe people in the UK with ADHD.
