My family are on a very tight set budget, disability etc., and we can't even go to the nearest beaches without being asked to either purchase park pass or leave.

We rode VIA from Calgary to Thunder Bay when I was a kid-it was affordable and a beautiful way to see the West. Mulroney cut it to T-Bay and most of the development went to the Eastern corridors.
Meeting Canadians from all over was incredible, my mom even met Alice Munro and conducted an interview.

Here's a very serious suggestion, make VIA Rail free for touring musicians. Now that the US is unsafe to tour, it's vital that musicians reach all of Canada's sparse population if we're ever to develop the means to tour overseas. We'll perform on the train too!

Unfortunately, this is not on target. Reducing or eliminating GST on essentials like clothing and home heating would be better for everyone. Not everyone can ride the rails, and certainly no one in NL. A more strategic approach that address real issues that benefits all Cdns is needed.

Not every benifit has to directly support every Canadian. $10/day childcare is a great benifit, even though some people don't have kids.
This will encourage families to explore Canada and keep their tourism dollars in the country, which indirectly benifits everyone.

Last year the Via Rail senior discount went from 60 to 65 years old. I’m a new Canadian citizen, 60 years old, and have loved my first couple Via Rail trips. I work for a charity, so affording Via Rail tickets is not easy. I love what you’re doing to encourage Via Rail, please, add more options.
