Good for you! How do we define this? I was told it was a pejorative word but I see it a lot on Bluesky in positive contexts… I am old - can you help me understand, please?
It's a reclamation sort of thing - Take a pejorative, and turn it into a sign of belligerent pride.
FWIW this sort of thing isn't always agreed upon. Gay circles aren't a monolith, and that tends to philter down into discussions of what slang should and shouldn't fly.
Meanwhile, probably the most important thing: having freedom of expression but considering if that might still unfairly, unreasonably make some people feel unsafe, gets overlooked
I call myself "queer", but if someone around me feels unsafe with me using it around them, I won't stuck doggedly to it
Other than the incredible euphoria of finally being myself, I must admit that the most kind, interesting and cool people in my life are all queer, and I would probably have never bonded or even met them were it not for me being a smoking hot 🚬 :p
I’m confused! That’s not what you all have been telling us! The cat’s out of the bag now. 😸 I’m glad you are happy with being yourself! Everyone should feel that way ✌️
I loved when Dan Savage's column in the stranger was called Hey Faggot! After a while they changed it to Savage Love, but the spirit is still 100% don't-give-a-shit-what-you-think faggot.
The 32 years I thought I was a faggot were some of the most powerful years of my life. Then my egg cracked, so now I still get called a faggot but I'm authentically happy and the joke's on them. 🏳️⚧️
This reminds me of the South Park joke where every straight person who said faggot got bleeped. Then Stan's uncle said it and he didn't get bleeped and was like "uh oh" lmao
This is really random but it popped into my head reading this skeet.
I wonder if Tyler The Creator pretending to be gay (I'm pretty sure he's not but just doesn't care what people thinks and likes being goofy) has lead to broader acceptance of faggotry in black culture.
He is both maybe-gay-not-really-nobody-knows and is very popular but also says (or said..maybe not so much anymore) faggot a lot. It's all kind of contradictory and interesting to me.
This also just came out a few days ago. It should start at ~1:33. Listen to the line here. It kind of just leaves you more confused lol https://youtu.be/M0qiZHV4E3U?t=93
Being bullied and having people laughed at extends their life. That laugh gives them more time to understand and become a friendly person who laughs WITH others.
Unless they get told by their bully overlord to raid antarctica in non-woke clothes (any winter garments).

Complexity of human attraction and love, reduced to the finale of a podium where a single sexuality wins, and the normative comes second.
