The sheer dumbfounded audacity of them saying one of the most baffling, ignorant historical take I’ve ever seen made me shocked and speechless. LIKE YOU CAN’T BE THIS FUCKING DUMB/STUPID!!!
Ok so I read it and it didn't answer my question of why the widowed number seems to be more than the people who died. Think of some of who died where children how does this number make sense?
I sustain that GW was a worse president than Trump is. Both basically believe the same shit but Bush laid the ground work for almost every problem we've had since while also pointlessly killing millions with a mixture of malice, greed and aggressive incompetence.
I've seen this dude be stupid before, but holy fuck this takes the cake. Bush can't be a bad guy because he didn't veto a law that did good things, but the Iraq war doesn't really count.
Liberals in 2053 after Hitler's Brain In A Jar Controlling A Mecha starts his first term by vaporizing the entire west coast: "I bet you think Trump was also a bloodthirsty genocidal monster"
No leaders of nations tend to be gentle, caring souls. Nations do not exist without the implicit threat of violence against those within and without. We can never look to those with the (legal) authority to kill us to find any degree of moral guidance.
It's going to be hilarious in a couple years when Big Don does a silly dance on whatever the equivalent of Ellen is and hangs out with Obama and the BlueMAGA libs are like "well I didn't like his policies but he had decorum, not like President Vance!"
He intended to invade an uninvolved country to protect us from made-up WMDs. He just *happened* to sign off on a little genocide in that aim, is all, no big deal or anything.
No, it means absolutely everything especially with a million dead bodies. If you want to keep history from repeating itself, you need to understand why something happened, not just what happened.
Bush has that much blood on his hands over intelligence that they were completely wrong about. The intent was to “keep America safe” but they got everything wrong and just kept going; causing tensions to escalate and more people to die horrible deaths that could have been avoided.
Intent means NOTHING when you have civilian death counts in the 100,000s. It means nothing when you spend $800 billion of taxpayer dollars to fund that kind of bloodshed and it means nothing when we act like we’re completely justified in doing so. The only way to keep history from repeating is
Feels like an appropriate character detail for the last human on earth, discovered by aliens, and summarily executed by being with an actual moral compass, not, you know, liberal revisionism.
Also Dem heroes like Clinton and Obama showed how friendly they were with him and like 90/+% of the appeal of liberalism is that you get to just play along with whatever the Authorized Good Guys do so you never have to think a single thought of your own about politics, power, or morality
Weird how much of liberalism is like maga’s non logic. Biden isn’t a murderer because he’s not, and you just don’t get the nuance of killing historic numbers of people for real politik that you pretend to regret later.
I did some reading about his 25 million lives saved thing and he was talking about PEPFAR, which was a good program, and still doesn't do anything to change the fact Bush was a bloodthirsty monster who got millions killed for nothing. Weird guy.
Is...that a controversial opinion now? The guy who kicked an entire region in the kidneys so Halliburton could loot it while it was down? He's...he's probably not a good guy.
The Democrats are the Good Guys, so anyone they invite to their conventions is an Ontologically Good Person. They invited Dick Cheney, so *clearly* he cannot be a bad person, and an Ontologically Good Person could *never* work for a genocidal maniac, so GW Bush *must* be a Good Person.
I remember distinctly how during his era, Dick Cheney was portrayed like an evil sorcerer, feared even by corporate Republican standards, and Bush was his dumb little peon. An establishment that holds him up as reasonable just plain deserves to fail, but the human cost is soul crushing.
Bloodthirsty genocidal human*
Monsters don't wage wars. Humans do.
Just because someone takes inhumane actions doesn't mean they're inhuman. Usually, they are human. We have to be able to live with that understanding and be wary of looking into that abyss.
Not to belittle how much of a warmongering monster he was, but was his campaign genocidal? I thought his target was a political faction in Iraq not an ethnic or religious one. Also, his motives were more profit and revenge.
I still haven't seen any experts on International or US law describe what W did as genocide. Crimes against humanity, war crimes, treason, torture, racism, and illegal war but not genocide in the US, Iraq, or Afghanistan.
I'd argue that it was partially genocidal by the fact that Bush and company's half assed occupation of the country destroyed flawed but important infrastructure that in turn killed people through violence, starvation, neglect etc. Not saying a competent occupation would have been good.
For fuck's sake... Are American children growing up thinking Bush is some kindly old grandpa? Hard to see why the country keeps electing monsters, when this is level of historical literacy people have 🙄
Because for a long time after 9/11 he spent years trying to make sure that his image would look good on the gop.
(I grew up republican I remember that shit but I couldn’t say anything without the threat of being kicked out if I questioned anything my parents said.)
I've seen people on this site *today* go "man, Nixon doesn't look so bad now when compared to Trump". It's from an overabundance of both bourgeois comfort and investment into politics as merely play instead of as tool for survival.
The imperialist slip n slide that GWB sent us on has led directly to this systems collapse we're experiencing right now. I was protesting it then when my body was young and worked. And I'm protesting it now that my body is janky and hates the sun.

no matter how you slice it Bush did evil things that were perfectly clear even at the time, but i'm a little suspicious of this source
They walk amongst us!
That's all it takes to become part of the "good guys", and the "good guys" only do good things. daah
Once he was out of office they stopped caring.

Again, still evil, but was it genocide?
He believed it was okay to sacrifice the lives of thousands to make up for not being able to kill one other person.
What is that? If not genocidal?
... We all accept that OJ Simpson was a murderer even though he wasn't convicted.
What you and I have to say about a person isn't really dependent on a court of law, especially since most of these mofos...
Every president in my life even Carter was technically a war from the but none have ever been prosecuted as a war criminal.
don't listen to this dude
