IMO doesn't change anything about the video's point or message, they probably just didn't want to cause actual damage to their Tesla.
The point wasn't to see how much damage it did and was just to see if it would stop or not

We're unlikely to come across the Wile E. Coyote problem irl but the Tesla sensors don't do shit in heavy fog or heavy rain either
The child was a mannequin but that doesn't matter. A car with self driving or emergency brakes should stop for anything that looks like a human
