No, I don't think things would be *as* bad under Harris, I voted for her after all, but things wouldn't have gotten better under her either. There are systemic issues that Democratic party heads have been unwilling to confront for decades, and is why they lost the election to a populist.
This (the above yours) reveals a fundamental lack of understanding. Specifically, in how problems operate and how most problems, breakages, or malfunctions are a matter of degrees. The fact that you can ask "how broken" something is indicates that on a fundamental level.
I don't undersand. First it's Trump the malingerer for not burning villages & babies in Vietnam like us good people heroes do. Now it's Trump the war lord, salivating at every kill. Why can't people make up their minds which it is? OK to burn babies, long as you burn'em yourself? Is that it?
NYT headline be like: “Sure, Russia seems intent to occupy all of Ukraine, Israel’s war goals have expended, India and Pakistan are going to war, and the military is preparing to descend on American cities; but Trump is still the pro-peace president”
you’re right with the exception of how fascistic and demonic ICE has gotten. they were already active and evil but they’re notably worse now with bukele as our concentration camp zone
I think Israel was emboldened to break the ceasefire in Gaza by Trump's comments. I can't say that the ceasefire wouldn't have ended but I think the US response would be very different.
Honestly my friend, if you think she would have been just as bad then I think the same of you. Do you really think the sitting US president endorsing Israel's actions has not exacerbated the situation?
I don't know how to get through to folks like you who think, after all this, that they're the same
I mean, they broke the previous ceasefire without encouragement. And neither Biden nor Harris offered anything other than full throated support of Israel
I don’t believe for a second that the woman who ran on continuing the Gaza genocide and who sent trans women to men’s prisons gives a single fuck about due process
tbh i dont think this is the case. yes they possibly wouldn’t have been as openly hostile but there wouldnt be nearly as much pushback as there is currently. harris would probably be deporting at much higher rates continuing the biden policies, and libs would just go back to brunch because blue won.
we see this every couple years when under democrat administrations calls to defund ice got insane pushback from libs. i just dont think they would have cared at all if blue won
War is a good way to wipe out loads of the poors though right. Who cares about them. Wonder how many wars would start if leaders' families were first on the front line.
You’d be surprised. War was a largely elite activity as a profession in Europe for hundreds of years. Didn’t seem to dampen the appetite much. Kings and nobles used to die in battle with some frequency.
Perhaps back then when average lifespan was a lot lower. In this age of self preservation and right wing obscene wealth hoarding i don't think leaders would be so keen.
Two nuclear armed countries are on the brink of all out war and the most powerful man in the world is like “damn someone should do something about that”
A nuclear exchange wouldn’t just be an Asia problem, it would cause a massive global climate disruption with all the burning cities left behind
he did say that it's no big deal that India and Pakistan are going to war because they've been angry at each other for a while. Truman's war or something.
feels like everyone protected from consequences by american hegemony (including our own cops) is trying to throw buzzer beater hail marys before that protection is gone
I concede the point, and, according to Sandboxx News, the current campaign has been active for the last nineteen months. The longest naval engagement since WWII.
there was a story that came out back when Biden first announced he was going to Get Tough On Yemen, that the official response of Ansarallah to the strikes was "come the fuck on, you babies, we know you've got more bombs than that."
hard to raise the stakes from "we tried to genocide you."
(Obama offered the Saudis a "commit one insane warcrime for free" card as a way to smooth over the Iran deal. they used it to try to invade and depopulate Yemen, with our full backing. as we can see: this did not end up going great)
Don't forget the troops they're stationing at the border with Mexico and Panama, the plans to annex Greenland and the continuous barrage of "we think Canada should accept us as overlords"
However, I'm an idiot with a laptop from the other side of the world. I don't know the details of what he's doing, I know nothing about how Cartels operate or about fighting them and have no clue how these morons in the administration will move next, so don't take my word for Gospel
Well I can tell you the sentiment the people have, and that is a very clear and firm: Never again foreign boots on Mexico. We're twice bitten thrice shy after the US and France dealies. Our president, clever as she is, knows this, and has stated again+again that she won't allow military personnel in
I hadn't heard about that massing of troops, but if it's confirmed that'd worry me as that's the same thing Russia did around Ukraine for a long time before things started to go bad. I mean, without permission from the people+prez anything trump did would b an outright invasion act...
Not in the sense he'll outright invade Mexico, but there are fears that he might start a war with the cartels and I read that this violent approach was attempted by the Mexican governments in the early 2000s with little to show for it aside from civilian suffering
You're 100% correct. Felipe Calderon's war against narcos brought nothing but violence and terror to Mexican society.
Also the "Fast & Furious" operation sought to arm Mexican defense, but in reality were just smuggled to the narcos. That's why we always say that the narcos were created by the U.S.
who's "we"? Many people here would not deny the influence of Calderas+ FF, but would also say the narcos were empowered way more by a presidential period where no actions were taken to curb their power, for example. 🤷
"Abrazos no balazos" no se refiere a abrazar a los narcos, por mas que te quieran hacer creer. Se refiere a "abrazar" a los jóvenes y combatir las causas por las que surge el narco, en lugar de ir directamente fuego con fuego.
No se detendrá el narco en seis años, por eso se votó la continuidad.
Meanwhile the shelves are becoming empty, food prices are rising, and people are becoming increasingly unhinged with easier access to firearms. Sounds great!

Right?
Humanity...so often disgusts me.
