yup! there’s an amazing backstory to this album that it was teased and dropped and no one knew who produced this but eventually came out that flying lotus and some others were behind ‘captain murphy’
If I remember correctly flylo was listed on the production side but the mystery was more who the rapper was and the methods they were using to obfuscate it.
I find it interesting he knew he couldn't hide his signature production.
I would collect vinyl for the tonal warmth but I don’t have the space. If my CD library was vinyl I would have run out of room by now. (We live in a condo.)
Buy a 24-bit streamer - no media space at all needed and almost as good as vinyl. Wayyy better than CD.
A Tidal subscription is only slightly more than Spotify.
If you audition units bear in mind that the quality of original recordings dropped to CD quality in the early 80s as vinyl sales tanked. They have improved again since but there is a whole generation of music which will never sound better than CD. Some albums did not fall into this trap though.
My jewel is a copy of Hot Man Pussy by Tragic Mulatto, an extremely obscure Bay Area band from the 90s. Only a few hundred copies exist but they're worthless because I'm their only fan lol
I OWN ONE OF THESE LOCKED AWAY SOMEWHERE AT MY OLD HOUSE! Its so good!
I dunno if the website hosting the full weird mixed video to go with it is still up but that shit was so rad
I’m not the most active rap listener these days, but I think this was the only release that ever really shared the same charms as Madvillainy for me. Congrats on the cool find
I had no idea that it even existed on vinyl. That was the golden age of mixtapes from obscure artists dropping online and being the best thing you ever heard.
This album samples so many great movies, and you posted this at such a serendipitous time, because I JUST finished watching the movie Black Sunday which is also sampled!

record so grainy its a skin peeling
flooding my bones with that nostalgic feeling
when did hiphop decide that this sound is no longer needed?
Which shop was this?
where did you find this 😭
666 of these made with this pressing.
I didn’t even own a player, I just **really** liked the album and wanted to help.
Oh look it’s only the album I listen to every other day that I thank god every second for ON LIMITED VINYL
One of the records I used to like to sneak into the middle of DJ sets to blow some minds.
