I'm working on a wedding veil for a friend's wedding this weekend. I totally signed up to hand-stitch tulle and loving it because it's going to be part of a celebration of trans joy and love and we totally need that right now.
Made these sweaters for my lovely daughter and her two wonderful kids. Pattern is Amtanke. A quick knit on big needles. Did all three in under 4 weeks.
Currently in a sock phase. Mostly knitting sport and DK weight because they are faster. I love that they are portable and fun plus I can support small businesses when I buy indie yarn. I’m at 8 pair for 2025.
I'm making another one of these canopies with vintage dupatta and other textiles in a green and blue colorway. I LOVE it. This is just another one I made to give you an idea of what I am talking about.
The February Lady sweater I am working on in a glorious shade of purple Highland yarn (Aubergine). Just have one sleeve left to go (about halfway finished). Then a few ends to weave in and some lovely handmade buttons to attach.
Busting my ass on a cosplay I've been workin on for a year now, getting it comp ready. Each ribbon on this thing was laid by my wretched hands. Remembered to post about it too!
I’m almost finished a C2C open block afghan using Caron Anniversary Cakes yarn and I’m also working on a mosaic crochet tea towel, pattern by TL Yarncrafts.🧶💙
I have a lot of knit socks that need mending, and I am on the 4th sock in a week which is a lot of duplicate stitch. I happily wore a mended pair a few days ago which had been out of rotation for far too long.
I won yarn chicken with this purple yarn. The bind-off for these purple stitches is a color not depicted in this photo. (The framing of this photo is deliberate to avoid disqualifying spoilers, because it’s an original that’s getting submitted somewhere.)
I recently finished a string of hearts for a dear friend, for which I *attempted* to teach myself crochet. I poured my sorrows into something hoping to bring a crumb joy to someone else's world.
Currently, I'm knitting Hansel's Hap (as a baby blanket, I think) in a gorgeous, rustic, small-farm, suri merino blend. It's made up of sale odds and ends, mismatched dyelots and barely-there pastel colors, but its homeliness suits me these days.
Oh, and I'm also trying to translate a slipper pattern out of Finnish. It's going about as well as one would expect if one knows anything about the Finnish language.
Which I don't. 🤣🤣🤣
I am almost done knitting the Wingspan Shawl for a friend ... several years' work off and on, but the end is in sight! I also figured out what to make with the 10 skeins of mystery yarn from my late mother's stash - a crocheted blanket - as a break from knitting the shawl ...
Visiting family in New England & very happy to see my kid is wearing these Chrysanthemum mittens I made for them in 2013! (Pattern on https://knitty.com) #knitty #knitting #mittens Travel knitting is a spring version of Alicia Plummer’s ‘Campside Cardigan’ in a DK weight cotton.
I started knitting again after a year off because of arm issues, I finished a 4 ply merino cardigan languishing in the stash, repurposed yarn from a finished cardigan I didn’t like and used it to make a second both for my daughter.
It's me from from the old wiseNeedle yarn review site days. Still knitting, but recently have returned to blackwork embroidery. Among the pieces I've finished are three fan tributes to my Resident Male's fiction output. I'm just finishing up the third in a series of rage-stitched protest samplers.
I recently finished a knit doll for the newest baby in the family. I took my color inspiration from a quilt my Mother made for the same baby.
I needed to whip stitch parts of the doll and your video "Sewing a Seam...: How to Work Horizontal Mattress Stitch and Whip Stitch" helped immeasurably. TY
Spinning a gradient of some very fluffy North Ronaldsay roving (real roving, not top) that a friend passed to me because she realised she didn't actually want thrummed mittens after all. Quite proud to be spinning this fine on a Louët S70 from the 80s.
I am going to have to back up [one of] my socks *again*. I WILL finish these but then will have to rethink the combo of aging eyes, dark color, complicated pattern, and fine, splitty yarn. I have taken a break to knit a purple pig baby cuddle. Photo to follow.
My two wips are both tardy. The first is a test knit that I was almost done with until I spilled straight espresso on and totally ruined. The second is a myal that I’m pretty far behind on because I kept changing my yarns.
I’ve knit a hat and cowl with the F💣 in many incarnations and it has brought me so much joy and laughter and cathartic RELIEF to knit. I will be publishing the charts and recipe for the cowl very shortly, since it seems to have resonated with people for some reason. 🤪😂 Pics are in my feed. THANK YOU
I am at the point of finishing a Fair Isle cowl that has had me obsessed for the past week. All I need to do is block and graft it and it will be finished!
I am using up odds & ends from my natural dyeing work--growing, dyeing, teaching--to knit, then felt, another bag to carry FOs to my workshops. And because that's not enough, a hap shawl.
Finally finishing my emotional support chicken. And knitting a plain pair of socks in a self striping yarn from Woolens and Nosh, that is also giving me some comfort.
Working on this "Rain or Shine" sweater using all the botanical fade advent minis from Hue Loco. It's the first sweater I've ever made for myself to keep and not gifted!
Just finished last night. Whipped this up in a week for the instant gratification because the coordinating shawl in the background is only half finished, and I've been at it for over a month. I'm so proud of both of them!
One day this will be a blanket, but the blanket was just an excuse to buy the yarn, because I loved the colours (which don't really show properly in the picture, but never mind).
I am doodling in string in the form of a sparkly fine mohair blend, making a lace beret with a pinwheel flower in the middle, a trellis lace between petals. Should be done tomorrow, and it is glorious.
I am finding my knitting mojo to be off right now, so for the last couple of days I have been weaving rainbow colored pot holders on my extra large pot holder loom. It doesn’t require a lot of critical thinking, which is hard right now.
Just started crocheting a granny square blanket! All squares will have the periwinkle outer round while the inner colors get cycled through. This was the first test square and I love the colors!
Finishing up repairs to one of my daughter's wool sweaters. It's her favorite and nearly 20 yrs old. It's been a lot of sewing needle weaving to do patch work and replacing lost material due to wear, as well as reinforcing stress high areas on it.
I’m proud of my knitting. It’s simple and gives me relaxation and a sense of accomplishment. I am most proud of the love of my life who has discovered her best self and legally changed her name today!
I finished the first Sock from the Ugliest Yarn, and have embarked on its mate. Not as fun as the last pair I made. Pictures for comparison. Someone once asked me how to make socks. My stock answer is: 1) make a sock; and 2) make another one just like it.
I’m writing a novel. And rather than squeezing in a few minutes here and an hour there, I devote every Friday night as my “novel date night.” We spend the evening together with my laptop and a glass of wine near the fireplace. It’s a wonderful end-of-the-week reward, too.
Really been throwing myself into the crunchy knitting lately, and finding it soothing. I want colors and textures and sometimes all together and no intarsia or bobble will stop me.
Making a baby blanket for a co-worker's new little one. Nothing special in terms of yarn, and the pattern is simple, but it has been my therapy during these troubled days, and I hope the sense of peace, calm, and comfort will go with it.
I am busy knotting bones back together. Two wrists, one cranium. It's not exciting, but it's so necessary. Perhaps the country will be able to take a page from my handbook.
Just finished my month 2 block of the month. Jen Kingwell’s pattern named Burrows & Boughs. In the evenings I’m working on the Escalator Wrap - converted to an afghan for the summer (well maybe next summer 😉)
Thank you for asking 🥰
Not making but got my living room mess of projects new yarn and notions almost entirely organized yesterday (forgot one bag of projects). This has taken me a while to do, but made a load of difference. Most will go in the closet, rest will stay there to work through.
I am two rounds away from finishing the yoke on my Childless Cat Lady sweater (Nocturnal by Saskie & Co.). Three color colorwork with LONG floats. My tension is wonky, but as GG says,"It's not hard. It's new." Amd it is practice for the next colorwork adventure.
I just finished a hat, to be donated to an org that distributes to Ukraine, but honestly, I made it from shame, not pride. But I AM proud of my current project, which is challenging me to knit facings for a steek. Me, knitting facings. Then, sewing them down. I'll be so chuffed if I can do it!
I'm making.. a list of fiber artists whose works I want to see & you're on it.
Ok, here is an actual make. This is "Bounds of the Universe", made from machine-felted upcycled cashmere sweaters, mixed with fleece for visual flare, embroidered and embellished w/hand sequinwork. Because #recycling💜
*You're* incredible...the interest in art AND science wins a follow... I find the coolest people on here. Such a breath of fresh air from the hatescape that is now Xitter.😌
Lists is really one of the best features of Bluesky. I love that I can add all sorts of fiber artists to my list, click on that, and have a custom feed full of ART. 😁 In a chaotic world, it's just good for the soul. 😊
I’ve got a green tweed sweater on the needles. Also a cross stitch project of trees, and a couple of cityscape embroidery pieces. A lot of stress-crafting lately.
I'm not sure my project is making me proud, Franklin, but it's a small act of solidarity. I am knitting the Aisling shawl in a colorway that has speckles of blue and yellow for Ukraine. My cc is a tonal gold. The designer says that Aisling means a vision or dream. It's a meaningful knit for me.
As some of you probably realized already I cast on with the wrong color. I just spent three days cutting off the bottom 6 rows and knitting down to a new picot edge and hem.
Partially thanks to engaging in a test knit, I am prioritising my crafts again. My mental health is doing better by the day. And the output too, of course :)
Working with my grandsons on a rainy day and making things out of felt. A neighbor gifted me with a big bag full of glorious colors. Bonus, the boys learned to sew with a needle and thread. I explained that would be handy for them later in life
I joined the SCA and I'm making hand-sewn garb for both spouse and myself, with the pricked fingers to prove it! My first surcote did not fit well but the second is doing what is supposed to. Next up: a houpelande!
Knitter here who has been struggling with attention span. I’ve finished a sock and started a new sweater that I am enjoying knitting. It’s all over texture that keeps it interesting.
I abandoned my near complete Felix Cardigan due to button selection anxiety. Instead I have been using up any bits of green stuff to crochet shamrocks with abandon. It’s quite liberating. Also compulsive. But FUN!
Buttons can be changed further along in time if you change your mind? They're not permanent, so you could just go for good enough buttons for now &enjoy the cardigan?
I’m making a V-neck boxy, and I’ve worked out how to do it with a five-color fade yarn set I had been hanging onto for the perfect project. Now seemed like a good time to make it happen! Also designing a new weaving project using some deep stash.
I keep starting new projects - 2 or 3 a week - because my brain seems to need the "hit" I get from startitis. A couple seem to be resonating so I keep working on them!
Also finally finished a sweater that's been thisclose for 2 years and wore it!
One of the many WIPs - a very textured Aran afghan - pattern from a Mary Maxim kit, yarn from a local "scratch and dent" discount store. I also embroider/cross stitch, crochet, tat, spin, and weave, and have at least one project in each of those fiber arts somewhere around here.
I finished a short stole/scarf/Ascot yesterday, knit in Malabrigo Mechita, and this morning I blocked it while listening to Robin Wall Kimmerer's mesmerising reading of Braiding Sweetgrass. The perfect combination on a sunny Spring day.🧶☀️
That is so kind, thank you! Yes, I am designing a sequence of shawls inspired by the Wheel of the Year. The shawl in the photo is Beltane, and the pattern will be available on 1st May.
I am about to finish a mitered square sock yarn blanket on US1s that I have been knitting on for more than a decade. I thought they were gonna have to bury me in it. With all the ends hanging out. (And I’m teaching myself to crochet octopuses.)
Enjoyed this thread very much! While taking calls on night shift I'm knitting a sweater for my husband in the nursing home in hopes he will come home to wear it! it's at the bottom of the picture. Local yarn crawl begins today so I'm wearing a shawl from a few years ago.
Current project is folding a thousand paper cranes with the wish to restore the nation to democracy. I'll be suspending them from the ceiling in my office. Also organizing my new craft room.
I’ve got several knitting and spinning projects going on. What will be making me proud on Sunday is doing a demonstration of spinning and weaving at a nursing home.
Perseverance through WIPs. It feels so good to finish projects. Currently working on a large quilt with bright colors so unlike my usual earthy palette. Each piece is so vibrant and helps chase away the grey days.

Which I don't. 🤣🤣🤣
Now working on a Sophie shawl holding three strands of midnight blue Daruma silk and mohair and it is going to be divine!
I needed to whip stitch parts of the doll and your video "Sewing a Seam...: How to Work Horizontal Mattress Stitch and Whip Stitch" helped immeasurably. TY
She saw me knitting at my local and has wanted to learn for a while.
So yay for knitting in public and yay for bringing new knitters into the fold.
Thank you for asking 🥰

Also, embroidering up a ton of Yarn Ball disks to make sure my recommendations are in point.

Also finally finished a sweater that's been thisclose for 2 years and wore it!
Also needlepoint, embroidery and piecing quilts.
I'm so glad I finished it. It really is the best thing I've made so far, and I'm so damn happy. https://www.lulu.com/shop/simon-bransby/whyte-demon/ebook/product-rm89m6y.html
