ICYMI: The face of a Neanderthal woman excavated from Shanidar Cave in Iraqi Kurdistan in 2018 has been reconstructed, and I kind of love it.
Another Kennis Twins reconstruction, because they just cannot stop being the best in the game.

Love it.
As an archeology student with a focus on prehistoric reconstruction especially with accurate setting, clothing, and adornment, this pleases me to no end to see.
Also, I have the same MtDNA haplo group is Cheddar man 🧀 , so he's my ancient family member sort of 😅
And perhaps most importantly of all, they weren't killed off.
It's looking more like they were absorbed into the Homo sapiens line.
This also looks like the kindest woman you'd never want to cross. She gets shit done.
We need to teach about the Yamnaya, Botai, Mittani cultures in schools as our common ancestors.
They were cute 😁

Neanderthals had language & communities, so you could gradually acclimate to their society. They farmed & fished, so you'd eat well.
And I’d have to bow my head and be like, “Yeah, you were right.”
my heart: she is grandma ❤️❤️❤️
It really speaks to the master craftsmanship of the Kennis twins that they're able to invite a feeling of kinship for long-dead humans/hominids
