(1/X) One thing that I find very alarming these days is how many people whose politics I agree with are saying this like "I feel scared" or "why should we fight when we're going to lose?"
Timothy Snyder has gone a great job of explaining the problem of obeying in advance...

Atomized, individual resistance important but limited. Effective resistance requires ethos, organizational/ institutional nexus (however amorphous). And reliable broad comms channel.
NYT, WaPo, CNN, FB, Twitter etc. gone. And not everyone has white privilege.
Will it be suppressed?

Trump has no meaning. I'm a grandmother; they shouldn't have pissed off grandmothers.
There are easy actions we can take every day to speak out against the madness. I'm listing them on my acct page. Pls participate.
Also.... very important::: kick em where it hurts.. in their wallets. Please share!
I'm an Irish studies scholar. Whatever success the IRA had was because they were willing to die, not because they always thought they would win--just like generations of Irish rebels before them.
The IRA is not a fine example of revolutionary optimism.
Let's not brightside people who are struggling right now.
Once you start to think you can't win, you are fucked.
However I am 63, and I'll be damned if I'm going to spend my last years in a stupid country that is trying to get stupider and meaner and greedier and more racist. There are more guns in the US than adult hands.

βTiocfaidh Γ‘r lΓ‘β (pronounced chuh-kee ar law) is an Irish phrase that translates to βOur day will come.β It has been widely used as a slogan by Irish republicans, particularly in relation to the struggle for a united Ireland.
Today, the phrase is still used in various contexts, sometimes politically and sometimes more broadly as a motivational or cultural expression.
1) it has always been part of the pledge of the allegiance, since the very first version of it
2) it comes after the whole "one nation ..." part that people have been quibbling about in recent years, and works as a sort of callback to those who say "one nation under god"
These people are small, weak chancers, whilst the crowd is vast, strong and determined.
Stand up and fight.
March, America.
The amount of "you're overreacting"s and "just ignore it"s I'm running into is really demoralizing.
People just want to ask how you're doing and get a stock 'good, you?' response.
It's disorienting to see everything happening while people just continue daily as if it's business as usual.
My friends just say "he's not gonna do anything"
The worst defeatism comes from those who assume they must see the final victory. Do not fight monsters because you expect to win. Fight them because they are monsters.
Our revenge will be the laughter of our children.
In many ways, these dipshits running the government had this mentality after the MAGA insurrection
(At least it's on Disney+ in the UK)
I hope they went full Spartacus on her.
I'd imagine any resumes getting updated this weekend.
Maga Senators and Congress live in fear that Trump will turn their constituents on them.
Once the same constituents begin to scream at them to "do something," things could turn on a dime.

@gregsargent.bsky.social has predicted that these things will happen only in blue states and be televised for red state audiences.

Is NEVER futile.
"Populism offers some redistribution, something to the people from the state; sadopopulism offers only the spectacle of others being still more deprived."
But
Still worried. France was DONE & Brit had Naziβs banging on doorβ¦ Until Unexpected POWER ALLY showed up (USA. NOBODY Knew WAT we were capable ofβ¦ THEN)!
WHO do WE look 2 for help pulling biscuits out of fire?β¦ China?β¦ Decidedly NOT an ally.
GOOD chance weβre on our own.
