The best part is this all started over just the pettiest small-town bullshit you can imagine and, instead of just letting it go like normal people, they decided that police overreach was the way to solve their problems.

Yes, and it's almost prophetic in how he describes Thomas. (I'm not sure what's more disturbing: That he pegged Thomas back then, or some of the lunatics he described in the story wouldn't seem out of place in QAnon circles today.)
