They’ve been at this before, protesting the First Past the Post system. They generally get no more than low double digits, if that, and I don’t think those come off the established candidates. If anything, they increase turnout, by bringing out people (family members) who wouldn’t otherwise vote.

If they are candidates, act like they.

Find out their phone numbers. Call them from 9am to 10pm, asking about their policies and positions. Find them on the street, and ask the same.

They have to file campaign paperwork, and financial statements.

Do internet checks, and highlight any badness.

A lot of this information will be available from the elections department of your state (or federally). All kinds of info on candidates is usually on the public record at the election department. It may even be on their website.

I'm not Canadian, so I'm not sure the procedures there.

What are they supposed to do? No rules are being broken. They can't make up elections rules. They can only enforce elections rules created by parliament. If it makes you feel any better, when they did it in St. Paul's last year, it was a longtime Liberal riding that went Conservative by 633 votes and the protest votes, depending on how you counted them, totalled around 1000.

They can't change the Canada Elections Act. If a nominee can get the nomination signatures from the riding, etc...
