I tried it. Not a fan of third person shooters, and after some pretty basic story dialog and jogging around post intro mission, I came to the conclusion that I'd rather not. PS3 era games are a touch hit or miss.
An absolute masterpiece of a franchise. I loved 1-3 and thought Andromeda was the weakest of the series although there were glimmers of greatness and intensity. I just finished it, yesterday. 🤗🤗
If you want to give it another go, start with ME2, the first one is pretty samey with the missions and the character dev isn't as great, 2 really steps everything up
As far as I can tell, it's a good game. People are just sad because ME1-3 were so good, and Andromeda couldn't reach that height. Also the buggy saving issues...just lost a 27 hour playthrough because of autosaving issues. But they did the right thing by changing characters and setting.
In my opinion it's actually a more faithful sequel to ME1 than 2 and 3 were. ME 2&3 were great but they went in a different direction focused on fast paced action and combat. ME 1&A are more slow and narrative driven, focused on exploring a new world.
I played it when ME was first launched, then replayed it twice when it came out as a revamped trilogy on Steam. It had some great ideas for narrative-based gaming, good action, and a compelling cast. Haven't tried ME Andromeda, though.
my fiancé convinced me to a few days ago so I played the first game, I played it like an action shooter tho so imma just restart since I'm only like less than 10 main story missions in and I wanna romance the cute characters
I wish they didn't completely abandon it either. The general storyline was interesting and redeemable. They would just need a new crew.
In general, Bioware should start making games for adult audiences, not teenagers. They tried it with Andromeda, and it did not work.
ME1 has a great story and introduces a fascinating universe. The companions are not that well developed and not much interaction.
ME2 is perfect. Great companions, great story, incredible ending.
ME3 is very good (not counting the last 15 min). Less companions but very deep relationships with them.
I'm a sucker for any with a huge encyclopedia/codex/bestiary about a fictional world.

Me, pausing the game in the middle of a space laser fight to spend 2 hours reading about alien houseplant maintenance:
"...Oh f*** yeah..." 🧐🤘
I did get it and I have been meaning to get into it some more. I tried the first mission and put it down I didn’t think it bad or good I just need more time with it
Mass Effect was one of the best sci-fi epics in media of the 21st century! The way they told the story of humanity among an already established multi-species govt, the story itself, the combat, the RPG mechanics ugh!!!!
Ayo, the Expanse books are different enough that they'll have you ON EDGE! The writers worked on adapting the TV show for TV (in many cases things happen very differently). They also started a new book series called The Mercy of Gods. MUST READ
I have been loving the story and that consequences of my choices follow me from game to game, but damn I don’t like all the farming I have to do to get up my military strength to fight the Reapers.
I picked up the Legendary Edition on sale before Christmas, and once I'm settled back into something like normal life after the break, then it's next on my list, after I've finished Prey.
Played the entire trilogy front to back for the first time last year. 100+ hours total and one of the greatest gaming experiences I’ve ever had. Love that trilogy.

Will get to it eventually. Got too many things in my backlog 😅
It's my favorite game franchise by far.
Especially all the Mass Effects. For the best calibrations.
ME3 BEEN WAITING A LOOONNNNNGGGGG TIME
Andromeda not done.
See you in #5
I thought SAM was a really interesting plot anchor. So was the secret backer. (My theory: Geth)

That universe is *ripe*.
Or give it the Arcane treatment.
The third… eh.
