One issue with X which I’m surprised doesn’t attract more scrutiny and scepticism when users read posts, is that blue tick accounts can be monetised. There is a financial incentive to post the most inflammatory views possible. I’m not convinced people even believe what they write anymore.

I suppose thats slightly different from actively looking for extreme views to make money, in that the money comes first.
Bit like deciding what you want to achieve and then finding an argument in its favour.
Something very wrong about that.
Easy money for people who love to post absurd, inflammatory stuff, then they just leave the internet to do it’s thing. It felt like a competition of who could post the most outlandish and obnoxious statements.
Wonder if they declare it and pay tax on that income?
If you want to report on the things he says come out loud calling him the liar he is.
Better to ask ‘did you post that for money?’ And ‘how much do you make from X?’ rather than engage with the views.
Are you asking Paul Brand if he’s ever read the printed press?
It’s not really a news organ is it - just an opinion piece designed to rabble rouse.
Or are encouraged to believe it.
Is that the strategy?
See Badenoche, Farage, Yaxley-Lennon, Hartley-Brewer, Hopkins, Fox, that Calvin ‘reverend’ thing, Tice, Madeley et al.
And what about Musk?
Engineers are left brained thinkers - it’s how you catch a returning spacecraft with chopsticks
Yet he tweets 23 times a day on Rochdale grooming gangs & Keir Starmer
He must be aware he doesn’t know the facts
Pure political theatre
IMHO a thoroughly immoral and reprehensible thing to do.
If you have a large following on Youtube, say, it's easy to monetise that and tools are supplied to do so.
But before the blue tick revenue sharing program, even prominent users with millions of followers, generating billions of ad impressions, got nothing.
Which always felt unfair, since the other platforms acknowledged the value of the traffic.
But I don't think that the underlying trend of paying significant contributors for the traffic they attract is itself wrong. That has real - and significant - value.
Comparing the replies to tweets which have an identical post on here...I have no idea why anyone would want to be on there anymore (other than for money!)
